I like the old e-Sword because I could copy and paste or drag and drop ,from Bible or Dictionary to study notes now I have to highlight and click paste in study notes.I also like to export under the file option so it was very easy to save my study notes in the folder of my choice. Maybe I'm doing some thing wrong but in the older version I had I could also point to a Strong's number and it would bring up a window with the definition, that also does not work on the new one and I don't like the way the new notepad is laid out its not as easy to use.In short I wish I had version 8 back. But e-Sword is still the best I've found.
- Correct, you can't drag and drop text. You can select text, press ctrl-c and ctrl-v to copy and paste the text.
- To Export, hold the control key and right click in the topic note/study note/journal note and choose Export from the menu that appears.
- You can hover over any Strongs number to see the tooltip (popup) of the definition in e-Sword 9-10. 9 and 10 require that the number be prefaced with H or G, such as H331. Any valid H or G number shows a valid tooltip, BUT do check under Options/Strongs Tooltips to see what dictionary is used for strongs lookups. Make sure it's a valid dictionary with the entries it should have (by default it's set to the Strongs that comes with e-Sword).

OK that works.I want to first thank you for your help. I'm a pastor and I've been using e-Sword to prepare sermons for many years and I'm lost with out it , so thank you very much for your help. Do you think the copy and paste or drag and drop issue will be fixed in some of the next versions ?
Thanks again Will
I don't know. The text control won't be upgraded again until Windows 8, which will have more touch screen support. You would think touch screen support would include dragging and dropping text.
e-Sword now uses a third party text control. So, whatever they put into the text control is what Rick Meyers can pull out of it. If they do not put the drag and drop in, then Rick can't do much. e-Sword 10 switched to this new text control that handles the input and display of text that e-Sword reads from the modules.
Let me give you one more tip that is maybe better than drag and drop? Highlight the text you want to drag and drop. Then right click the text and choose Paste Into Topic Notes (or Journal Notes or Study Notes). You can do that from these windows: Bibles, Commentary, Dictionary, Reference Library, Devotionals, etc.

you can also right-click the text and paste into the Editors from the STEP reader. If you have some helpful STEP files, this is a handy maneuver.

Hi Josh,
The changes made to the Strong's numbering system was (from memory) during the Version 8 series of e-Sword. That was a very interesting state of affairs created at that time. The Database change from MS Access to SQLite was made at for version 9. I can't recall if the changes made to the Strong's Numbering system was at the beginning of version 8 or somewhere a little later down the road.

Josh, Any insight into why the drag and drop no longer functions? that is a basic windows function in most any application. It seems weird to upgrade to a version of any software that removes drag and drop in favor of cut and paste..
