#44600 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 18 June 2023 - 06:55 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Thank you, it seems to work now, except

Report the following:

VALUE ERROR
BGen3Ref[9] c←⍎NumbersOnly (⍴c)↓bc
              ^
__________________________________

BGen3Ref[9] *
WriteBbli[72]
>[fmTxCtrl.mModules4.mBbli;Click]
<[fmTxCtrl;Wait]
Start[108]

which appeared two times in the saving process, at part of text without a reference (that are not included in protestant translations, so they have not chapter and verses specified)

Can you tell me how to correct these errors and how can I convert a .bbli in a .bblx module?
Thank you in advance

Replace the hard break before the unnumbered text with a soft break

#44614 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 19 June 2023 - 10:13 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Thank you.

It seems to me that:

soft return = continuing the verse before

hard return = another verse

soft + hard return = another chapter

Isn't it?

No sott+hard return does not equal another chapter, you do not need to have a break of any kind between chapters in a bible module. Tooltip processes bible modules based on the book, chapter and verse numbers. The individual chapters will display in e-Sword correctly without any extra indications

I have two NWT translations for e-Sword one is the 1984 edition and the other is 2013 edition contact me if you would like either or both

#45102 Paleo Hebrew

Posted by Tj Higgins on 25 September 2023 - 04:14 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

The Paleo-Hebrew font isn't there.  The Paleo-Hebrew font is in the box above in the regular font and editor font, but not in the Hebrew, Greek, and Latin boxes.

Those boxes should contain all of the same fonts that are in installed in windows, Try changing the regular font to Paleo Hebrew and see what happens

I tried that, and it changed the entire bible to Paleo-Hebrew.

Then I am stumped the font should be in the list in the Hebrew fonts list

This is what I have in Tooltip: attachicon.gifScreenshot 2023-09-25 102602.jpg

And this is how it appears in e-Sword: attachicon.gifScreenshot 2023-09-25 085720.jpg

What am I doing wrong?

You need to install the fonts for this module and then set the correct one in e-Sword's font settings

I am new to e-sword. What exactly do I need to do?

From the menu at the top of e-Sword to open the options menu
On the options menu click font settings this will open a small box where you can change settings related to the fonts in e-Sword.
In the lower part of this box there are three font options for setting the fonts for Greek, Hebrew and Latin text
Change the selected font for Hebrew to the same Paleo font you used in Tooltip

Do you happen to know how Jeff Benner put the ancient Hebrew in his? I have been trying to figure it out but I can't. I also emailed Jeff Benner, but never got a response.

He used special fonts to create the ancient Hebrew characters, you need to download and install the fonts into e-Sword.

When I open his in e-Sword, it shows up with the Hebrew letters. But when I open his in Tooltip, it appears as a regular font.

The font settings in e-sword determine how things appear in e-Sword. Try changing fonts in Tooltip to use the same special fonts that are required for e-Sword.

#45844 Computer Science: e-Sword and Databases. Part 1

Posted by Tj Higgins on 25 January 2024 - 03:18 PM in Tutorials

I'm looking for help regarding e-Sword's ability to convert my topics (file extension *.topx) content to a reference book (*.refx).

The conversion creates a refx file that lacks the "details" table e-Sword uses to organize reference book files (rather than renaming the file as I have been doing).  I've been successful adding the "details" table using DB Browser for SqLite and can use Tab Renamer to modify details - I prefer this over changing the filename.  Unfortunately adding "details" causes the content of the reference book to not display!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hank

The correct instructions for converting topx to refx can be found on page 176 of the e-Sword users manual here are the steps:

To convert Topic Notes to Reference Book format:
1. While pressing the Ctrl key, right-click the mouse in the Topic Notes window.
2. Click the Convert to Reference Book option.
3. Choose where to save the REFX module. You should choose your e-Sword installation folder, usually c:\program files\e-Sword, unless you changed the location where e-Sword reads modules. See the Changing Your e-Sword Resources and Files Location section if necessary.
4. A confirmation box tells you to restart e-Sword to see the Reference Library book in the Reference Library.
Note that you will only see the new REFX module if you saved the module in your e-Sword Resources and Files Location folder.

#46070 Creating Bible Modules with Strong's Numbers

Posted by Tj Higgins on 15 March 2024 - 10:18 AM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Tj,

Having used UniqueBible by Eliran Wong, I believe that he creates e-Sword modules with added Strong's numbers by approaching the problem from a different direction.  My greatly over-simplified explanation of how this method appears to work is:

Decide which Greek and/or Hebrew your Bible version will be based on.

Create a database index in numerical order for each Greek and/or Hebrew word, starting in Genesis 1 and/or Matthew 1 as entry 000001.

Add the correct Strong's Number to the database as a record for each Greek and/or Hebrew word indexed.

Finally add the English language translation as another record for each Greek and/or Hebrew word indexed.

Take for example a database starting with Matthew 1:1.  The Index and records would start out looking something like this:

000001    Βίβλος   G976   [The] book

000002    γενέσεως  G1078    of [the] genealogy

000003    Ἰησοῦ   G2424   of Jesus

000004    Χριστοῦ   G5547     Christ

The numerical index doesn't change.  The Greek word order doesn't change.  The Strong's numbers don't change.  The only thing that really changes is your English translation.  You don't need to completely re-invent the wheel as you can reuse open source data that is already out on the Internet.  You may choose to combine some Strong's numbers to make better sense in English, for example the word "throughout" in the verse below has both H5704 and H7097 Strong's numbers:

Psa 46:9  He brings an end to H7673 wars H4421 throughout H5704 H7097 the earth H776; he shatters H7665 the bow H7198 and breaks H7112 the spear H2595; he burns H8313 the shields with fire H784.

The programs that you can use to manipulate the data could vary.  Notepad++ is quite powerful and accepts regex expressions.  Microsoft Excel with .csv files may be useful.  Probably want to finish the module using DB Browser for SQLite

I'm not saying that any of this is easy or fast, or that I'm an expert.  I'm just saying that if you want to get to the finish line, this may be a way to go about it.

     ElderB

I have looked and Eliran's e-Sword modules using DB Browser but they are not set up the way you outlined.

Do you think Rick misunderstood your email?

I used the contact form on esword.net to contact rick and he responded with the email above, my question was straight forward so I doubt he misunderstood
