#43357 How to delete memory verses in iPhone?

Posted by modulist on 03 September 2022 - 09:45 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Tap on the settings menu at the top left corner of the screen (it looks like three parallel lines). From the resulting list, tap "Memory Verses." This will show the list of your memory verses. Now, slide your finger left on whichever verse you want to delete. If you slide your finger all the way, the verse will automatically be deleted. If you slide your finger part way, it will reveal a delete button that you can then tap to delete. Tap "Done" at the top left of the screen when you are done.

#43469 E-Sword X does not do what e-sword on pc can.

Posted by modulist on 16 September 2022 - 10:50 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

In my experience, I find that the Mac and Windows versions of e-Sword both have their advantages and disadvantages. And it is a shame that the Mac version doesn't allow for more than one topic module in the editor. This is something you would have to bring up to Rick Meyers and suggest as a new feature. You can do so here: https://www.e-sword....mac/contact.htm

Now, as to linkage to your current verse, the topics editor doesn't do that. What you need to use is the Study editor, which is linked to your current verse. Likewise, the journal editor is linked to the current date.

The study editor is sort of like your personal commentary which you write on the current verse.

Hope this was helpful in any way.

#43542 Converting locked module with Apple Converter?

Posted by modulist on 04 October 2022 - 06:50 PM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Official modules, meaning, modules that you download from within e-Sword, are locked modules. None of them can be converted with the converter tool.

#43554 Create modules without Tooltip

Posted by modulist on 07 October 2022 - 11:31 AM in Tutorials

In addition to what Katoog has said, a very important tag is:

<ref>Mat 1:1</ref>

This creates "tool tipped" scripture references. Unlike in the Windows version, these must not have an underscore in between the book and chapter:verse reference. So don't write Mat_1:1, or the reference won't work. However, it will appear underlined automatically in e-Sword for Mac/iOS/Android.

I have indeed created resources using an DB Browser for SQLite on the Mac. It takes more technical knowhow to do it, obviously, but it can be done. Katoog has given you some good advice to get you started.

#43596 Nederlandse Vertaling van die Bybel

Posted by modulist on 16 October 2022 - 10:41 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

From within e-Sword itself you can download the Dutch Staten Vertaling.

There are also some Dutch bibles available on this website, just search, for example, for "statenvertaling."

#43606 e-Sword Lt and e-Sword HD

Posted by modulist on 18 October 2022 - 08:28 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

They most certainly can, but you must choose the right format, which is those files that end with an "i." That is, files that end with .bbli, .cmti, .dcti, .lexi, .refi, etc. When you download one of these, it should either automatically open in e-Sword, or else iOS will ask you if want to open it in e-Sword. If the file is zipped, you will have to unzip it first.

#43627 Missing font?

Posted by modulist on 22 October 2022 - 05:49 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have just tried it here on the Mac and it looks okay. My font is set to "Helvetica Neue," which, if I remember correctly, was the default for e-Sword X.

You could try changing the default font in the menu item "Options>Font Settings..." or something like that. Try Georgia or Arial which are likely to have these missing unicode characters. One of the fonts that comes shipped with Windows will likely be your best bet.

#43840 e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT

Posted by modulist on 30 December 2022 - 11:13 AM in Module Creation Tools

Hey, Tj,

OK - i are dum.

I went looking for the Sep and Oct 2019 versions, and couldn't find those either. Again - I only found the most recent release. So sorry to be so obtuse - but where are the older versions located?

Hi Dave,

There are three options available for download on this site. The first two are the Sep and Oct versions, respectively. The September version is named "ToolTipTool NT 20190819.exe" and the October version is named "ToolTipTool NT 20191007.exe."

#44030 Shortcut to open e-Sword at named verse

Posted by modulist on 10 February 2023 - 12:12 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

One solution you might use on Windows is AutoHotKey, which is a scripting language. You could write a script that launches e-Sword, and then when the window appears, automatically types in the particular scripture reference you want into the search box and sends an enter keystroke. It's probably the closest thing you can get to e-Sword automatically opening up to a desired verse.

If you are programatically inclined and want more information about it (and to download the installer), go to their website here: https://www.autohotkey.com/

#44035 Tools to create a bbl file for an older version esword

Posted by modulist on 11 February 2023 - 06:20 PM in Module Creation Tools

Not sure how going back words from the bblx or bbli format could be or with what tool or tools could be used. The bbl module format was discontinued with the launch of e-Sword version 9.

If you have a way you can create a .bblx, then I think you should be able to convert to .bbl using Simple Bible Reader, if I am not mistaken. Unless Simple Bible Reader has dropped support for .bbl files. I haven't used it for a few years.

#44058 james Moffatt translation - becomes public domain when?

Posted by modulist on 15 February 2023 - 10:17 PM in Copyright & Licensing

Hi,

First, my disclaimer: I am not a legal expert at all. But this is what I found doing a quick search.

I found the Moffatt Old Testament (or half of it) on archive.org here:

https://archive.org/...t-1925/mode/2up

According to this page, it is public domain and was published in 1925. According to Wikipedia, all works published in the US before January 1, 1928 are in the public domain (in the US), so it would seem that the Moffatt OT is indeed in the public domain already.

I don't know of any e-Sword version of Moffat's OT kicking around, just the NT.

#44070 james Moffatt translation - becomes public domain when?

Posted by modulist on 17 February 2023 - 11:07 AM in Copyright & Licensing

As far as I am aware, the Moffat Bible is in the public domain.

Depending on the country you are in, Like here in NZ, the copyright has well and truly done its dash. In the US, I think it's also done its dash. Your copy you have is a 1926 edition. Well that's pretty much close to 100 years, and it hasn't been renewed. So I would say that the copyright is well and truly totally stuffed, as in munted.

I would agree. I think we can safely say that this is in the public domain now, although it appears that it came into the public domain in the US just a few years ago, so yes, 10 years ago it would not have been in the public domain in the US.

Here in Canada, it would have been in the public domain a couple of decades ago because Moffatt died in 1944. Our copyright laws have recently changed to conform to other countries laws (you can thank the new version of NAFTA for that), but anything already in the public domain remains so. Hence, for example, C. S. Lewis' works are public domain here in Canada, but not in the US at this time.

#44072 new to Mac

Posted by modulist on 17 February 2023 - 01:57 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean that e-Sword is opening up multiple instances or multiple copies at once in different desktops? When I launch e-Sword on the Mac I only ever get one instance. Some more details and maybe screenshots would be helpful.
