#44460 MySword 14.1 released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 19 May 2023 - 03:16 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

MySword 14.1 was released today here are the updates and fixes in this version:

What's new in Version 14.1
  1. Compare/Parallel view improvement: option to show annotations like cross-reference, map, people, animal, plant, object links. The links are placed on top in Compare while on the verse number column in Parallel verse mode (note that commentary link will also be shown here instead of the first Bible column) or first Bible column in paragraph mode.
  2. Merged Cross-references popup improvement:
    1. Option to show annotations like cross-reference, map, people, animal, plant, object links.
    2. Option to show more annotations like titles, formats, tags and notes aside from cross-reference, map, people, animal, plant, object links.

    Hide annotations will work here as well for Extract verses and Compare/Parallel view.

  3. Notes Editor's Edit notes details improvement: From/To verse will now use the first Bible in the list of Compare/Parallel and not the first among all Bibles in case the active Bible is Compare/Parallel.
  4. New Journal preference: option to show edit entry details. The preference icon is on the top bar for non-Compact mode or Navigation drawer for Compact mode.
  5. New Editor preferences accessible via Menu: currently it has Edit scroll to bottom (default checked).
Bugs Fixed in Version 14.1
  1. Animals, Plants and Objects of the Bible:
    1. Popup doesn't show pictures if MySword have not yet shown any picture for fresh install.
    2. All's View more... doesn't work properly in case there is a single quote in the link, e.g. Ship's tackle of Act 27:19.
  2. Verse List, Bookmarks and Edit Cross-References preview may crash in case of too many verses.
  3. Editor preview may crash in case of very large content.
  4. Reading Plan Own Pace Edit entry may cause a crash.

#44461 MyBible 5.6.0 and 5.6.1 released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 19 May 2023 - 03:25 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

MyBible released two updates in 2 days here are the improvements and fixes for both new versions:

MyBible 5.6.1

Fixes

  1. Prevented an inability of MyBible to start in case if a MyBible appearance theme specifies borrowing
    of some theme aspect from the same theme.

MyBible 5.6.0

Improvements

  1. File import functionality is “rendered harmless” and extended:
    • Eliminated MyBible’s reaction to all file types in file managers, keeping reaction
      only to two file extensions: *.json and *.zip. This is a compelled change, forced by
      an apparent confusion of users faced with an unexpected MyBible 5.5.0 reaction
      to all file types (“why does MyBible interfere with my starting MP3s from the file manager?”).
      Import of all MyBible’s file types is still possible – via a .zip archive.
    • Supported import of .zip archive file contents. Note that most file managers on Android
      handle .zip files by themselves (unzipping them “on the fly”, like if they are just directories),
      so in order to pass a .zip file to MyBible for importing you will need to find in your file manager
      a function like “Open with” and then select MyBible; some file managers may not even have
      such a feature, so in this case you might want to use the system “Files” app.
    • In addition to file types possible to import in MyBible 5.5.0, supported import (from a .zip archive) of:
      • notes (*.txt, *.html)
      • fonts (*.ttf, *.otf)
    • Added a usage tip on import of files.
    • Prevented a crash when the user closes a file import dialog before the process is completed.
  2. For extra module registries, supported having an extra module abbreviation
    the same as a module in the main registry – both will be shown in the modules list,
    both will be downloadable (but only one of them can be actually downloaded at a time,
    since both end up as the same file on the device).
  3. In the Strong’s number usage search functionality improved the Strong numbers entry dialog –
    it is now possible to choose one or several Strong’s numbers from the history of accessed ones.
  4. Added the “bookmarks: background” setting in the “Show” submenu, allowing to turn off and on
    background highlighting for bookmarks shown in the Bible text.
  5. When there is a current modules registry downloading problem, updating and downloading
    of modules (per the last successfully downloaded modules registry) is no longer blocked.
  6. Localizations:
    • The entire Ukrainian localization is proofread by Roman Babiy.
    • Updated the Serbian localization.

Fixes

  1. TTS:
    • Removed requesting of the Phone system permission, since another way was found
      to detect presence of an incoming or outgoing phone call, and pause TTS for that.
    • Fixed a problem of stopping TTS when the screen goes off or when another app is brought
      to the foreground (the problem was introduced in MyBible 5.5.0).
    • Fixed pausing of TTS for phone calls, which was not working in last several versions.
  2. Prevented copying of shown Strong’s numbers-related information when the “Copy ancillary information” setting
    is unchecked.
  3. Corrected behavior of the extra registry adding dialog in part of the URL entry.
  4. Fixed an incorrect work of the “Borrowing from other themes” feature in the Themes window
    in case if more than one part of theme settings is specified as borrowing from the same theme.
  5. Fixed a problem of not being able to show some dictionary articles with big maps in them.
  6. Restored usage of the BOOKS_ALL.title field to show a full book name in the Bible text
    (unintentionally lost in MyBible 5.5.0).
  7. Prevented showing in dictionary selection lists of dictionary modules
    having no DICTIONARY table (according to the MyBible Modules Format document update).
  8. Fixed the action of the setting
    “Repeated activation of the same word shows … from all the dictionaries and lexicons”.
  9. Prevented showing of “%s” in the widget title in Psalms for some Bible modules.
  10. Corrected placement of a separator between a Strong’s number and a morphology indicator
    in modules with right-to-left writing (in Hebrew).
  11. When starting MyBible while there is not yet a downloaded Bible module,
    the “Welcome” window cannot be closed until default modules for the user interface language
    have been downloaded – this prevents a problem of an empty Bible window during the first MyBible launch
    by a hasty beginner user who rushes to close the “Welcome” screen before default modules
    have been downloaded.

#44481 Planning On Converting PDF Bible into e-Sword using Tooltip NT

Posted by Tj Higgins on 24 May 2023 - 10:27 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

There is no import function in Tooltip NT, however you should convert the pdf file into and rtf file as Tooltip can read and access rtf files easily

As for creating a bible module, the given book order for the LGV bible will not work in e-Sword as e-Sword simply lists the NT books in the common order as found in most English bibles.

So the books are ordered as follows:

Matthew

Mark

Luke

John

Acts (of the Apostles)

Romans

1 Corinthians

2 Corinthians

Galatians

Ephesians

Philippians

Colossians

1 Thessalonians

2 Thessalonians

1 Timothy

2 Timothy

Titus

Philemon

Hebrews

James

1 Peter

2 Peter

1 John

2 John

3 John

Jude

Revelation

The LGV uses paragraph format for the verses of each bible book which will also not work in e-Sword as e-Sword uses a 1 verse per line format Each paragraph will need to be manually divided into individual lines in Tooltip NT in order to properally create module. Luckily Tooltip NT has a Fill in Tool that you can use to add the Book and Chapter numbers before each verse.

Using the paragraph you provided:

3 Blessed2 the God and Father of our Master Jesus Anointed,3 the Father of compassions and God of all consolation, 4 the one consoling us over all our affliction [in order] to empower us to console those in every affliction through the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled under God. 5 Since just as the sufferings of the Anointed are multiplying unto us, thus also our consolation is multiplying through the Anointed. 6 Yet whether we are afflicted, [it is] for your consolation and deliverance (which is effective in endurance of the same sufferings which we are experiencing). Whether we are consoled, [it is] for your consolation and deliverance.

You simply need to press enter at the end of each verse to create the required verse line as follows:

3 Blessed2 the God and Father of our Master Jesus Anointed,3 the Father of compassions and God of all consolation,

4 the one consoling us over all our affliction [in order] to empower us to console those in every affliction through the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled under God.

You will not need to include the footnote numbers in the bible verses as you can create a commentary module with the notes and cross references set up by verse.  You can make the commentary module after you make the bible module

#44497 Getting a pdf into e-Sword on my iPad

Posted by Tj Higgins on 27 May 2023 - 03:05 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

How do I get a pdf into my e-sword on my iPad so I can read it there. I have a pdf of the 613 laws I would like to read while using e-sword on my iPad.

is it possible?

 Thank you
iPad 16.4.1.

e-Sword is not capable of reading PDF files, you need to create a module from the pdf in order for e-Sword to be able to read it.

There is a module creation tool called e-Sword Tooltip NT that is used for making modules however it is a Windows program

Here is link to download this tool: http://www.biblesupp...ws-environment/

It sounds like the best option for the 613 Laws would be to created a Topic or Reference module to use in e-Sword. These modules can be accessed and read through e-Sword built in Reference Library

Unfortunately I am a Mac user, so I suppose I am out of luck on creating this Topic or Reference module for use in e-sword.

If anyone would like to try I will enclose the PDF file.attachicon.gif613-laws-2.pdf

Thank you for your help.

I am sure someone here can get it done

#44541 Installed Bible Never Showed Up - BIBi (PC) Berean Interlinear Bible 5-Layer...

Posted by Tj Higgins on 07 June 2023 - 08:32 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

ElderB,

Thanks for taking your time to help me out. Unfortunately, I did that and the bible still doesn't show up. The Notes file is there, but not the bible.

Van

Try downloading the bible module again and then copy and pasting it into your e-Sword folder in your Programs folder. After doing this, turn e-Sword off and then back on

I will need to have the project files recovered or the crashed computer repaired sorry for the delay. On the bright side, I had the project a little more then half complete so hopefully I can recover the files an continue on to completion of the project with out having to start over.

#44570 MEV

Posted by Tj Higgins on 14 June 2023 - 04:10 PM in MySword

Hello Everyone!

                      First I would like to say how much I and my family enjoy using this platform. I have noticed that Some versions of the bible are not yet available. I like to do a lot of comparing and sometimes don't have the luxury of bringing my library with me to places, so we use this program mostly when we are on the go. I would love to know how to get the MEV version on here or if I need to type it up and enter it myself? lol JK Thanks either way! -Praise the Lord Jesus Christ and the Blood He shed for us..

That translation is copyrighted and the copyright holder will need to give permission for a module to be made

#44599 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 18 June 2023 - 06:46 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

I have put soft enter, at the places indicated, but the errors appears on same places

Replace all of the headers at the top of your document with the following to save has a bblx module:

#define description=DESC

#define abbreviation=ABBR

#define comments=CMTS

#define version=3

#define strong=0

#define right2left=0

#define ot=0

#define nt=1

#define font=DEFAULT

#define apocrypha=0

You need to give your module a description were it says DESC and an abbreviation were the letters ABBR are shown. The abbreviation will be the tab name for the module that appears in the bible window of e-Sword. You can add a description of your module were the letters CMTS are shown. As your module contains the books of the Apocrypha you will need to change the 0 in the last line of the headers to 1 so it will look like this  #define apocrypha=1

Also you do not need blank paragraphs between bible book chapters

Your bible text is duplicated for some reason

#44600 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 18 June 2023 - 06:55 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Thank you, it seems to work now, except

Report the following:

VALUE ERROR
BGen3Ref[9] c←⍎NumbersOnly (⍴c)↓bc
              ^
__________________________________

BGen3Ref[9] *
WriteBbli[72]
>[fmTxCtrl.mModules4.mBbli;Click]
<[fmTxCtrl;Wait]
Start[108]

which appeared two times in the saving process, at part of text without a reference (that are not included in protestant translations, so they have not chapter and verses specified)

Can you tell me how to correct these errors and how can I convert a .bbli in a .bblx module?
Thank you in advance

Replace the hard break before the unnumbered text with a soft break

#44601 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 18 June 2023 - 07:14 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

This is looking too complex for me to sort out. Sorry.

I figured it out JPG

#44614 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 19 June 2023 - 10:13 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Thank you.

It seems to me that:

soft return = continuing the verse before

hard return = another verse

soft + hard return = another chapter

Isn't it?

No sott+hard return does not equal another chapter, you do not need to have a break of any kind between chapters in a bible module. Tooltip processes bible modules based on the book, chapter and verse numbers. The individual chapters will display in e-Sword correctly without any extra indications
