Dickson Teacher’s Bible Commentary

This module contains the Dickson Teacher’s Bible Commentary by Roger E. Dickson, converted for e-Sword to make study and teaching easier in digital format. The original commentary was developed over decades as a Bible teaching and mission resource, with a stated goal of broad availability for Bible students worldwide.

Errors and Omissions:

This e-Sword module was generated from the source PDFs using a custom Python extraction/conversion script written by GPT-5.3-Codex, with manual review and iterative tuning for structure and formatting. While ChatGPT and I have worked to preserve headings, paragraph flow, and verse/chapter placement as accurately as possible, some formatting edge cases may still remain. If you find major formatting issues, please contact damienghughes@gmail.com or post a message below, and I’ll do my best to address them as time permits.

Good-Faith Permissions Note:

Based on the commentary preface and the Document of Release and Distribution, this upload is shared in the good-faith understanding that broad printing/distribution is intended, including internet access and download/printing, with no monopoly claim by a single distributor. This is not legal advice, but a best-faith interpretation of the author’s published distribution policy. If this understanding is incorrect, or if any rights holder requests removal/correction, please contact damienghughes@gmail.com and this file will be removed immediately upon request.

UPDATE (3/7): I sent an email to Roger Dickson's email as a courtesy, and he gave his official blessing on it being used as an e-Sword module.

Someone gave this 5 stars.

In the Download option there are TWO entries, and they both have identical spelling, but differ in their size. This is not self-exploitative to the user. There is one Commentary - why two files with identical spelling?

[1] dickson.cmtx 13.36MB
[2] dickson.cmtx 10.79MB

Please give an explanation of why these two files have the same file type, or change the appropriate entry from "cmtx" to "cmti".

To quickly see if a file is HTML or RTF,
Open in a Text Editor
Right-click the file.
Choose Open with and pick Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
Signs of an HTML File
You see tags inside angle brackets like <p>, <div>, or <!DOCTYPE html>.
The text looks like a web page layout or code.
Signs of an RTF File
The very first characters show {\rtf1....
You see words with backslashes like \ansi, \deff0, or \f0 .

[1] dickson.cmtx 13.36MB This is RTF a{\rtf1\ansi\deff0 with backslashes in the coding
[2] dickson.cmtx 10.79MB This is also RTF {\rtf1\ansi\deff0

Please decide why there are two entries, and what happened to the HTML entry?

a cmti module has been been created and uploaded
