E. D. Slough was the preacher at the church of Christ; Terre Haute, Indiana in 1914 when, “The Indictment Of Eternal Torment, The Self-negation Of A Monstrous Doctrine” was printed. It has long been out of print and used copies are hard to find. It is now in pubic domain and can be printed by anyone.
His book is as good as “The Fire That Consumes” by Edward Fudge, but it did not receive much circulation. Brother Fudge believes there is a Hell and all the lost will be in it, but believes it will be a short Hell that will end with the death of those that has been in Hell for a while, and they will be tormented by God for as long as they are in Hell.
The fate of those not in Christ according to:
•According to Slough  o Death – Resurrection – Judgment – Second death  
•According to Fudge  oDeath – Resurrection – Judgment – Hell – Second death  
During the Judgment there most likely will be fear and regret when the lost see what they have lost by not being a Christian. Fudge then adds a place between the Judgment and the second death that is not in the Bible, names it “Hell” and says God will torment the lost, some with more torment, some with less torment before the second death.

JI Packer wrote an excellent refutation of this tragic heresy [[thirdmill.org/newfiles/ji_packer/Packer.Annihilationisminreview.html] stemming from unBiblical emotions, not Scripture, so contrary to The Grace & Word of God, for it makes no sense to talk of

the worm dies not and the fire is not quenched" [Isaiah 66:24<Mark 9:48] if both declarations are false. As Packer's refutation shows, annihilationism's vain attempts to refute or sidestep the ancient Church's Biblical doctrine are unpursuasive and to me frankly seem inspired by the failure to be childlike Jesus requires [Matthew 18:3 | Mark 9:36]. Granted hell is a horrible doctrine, but when our emotional recoiling from it leads to rejecting what God's Word actually says, as recently has happened with beloved Kirk Cameron [youtu.be/_RflbA8Vt_Y] we're in danger. To be fair, as his friend Ray Comfort says [youtu.be/z1BAU7cdh8Y], he TENDS to that view, but is NOT TOTALLY committed to it, as he asks "Dangerous Questions" as the title of his show indicates. When a man manifestly maintaining a devout Christian witness in the midst of godless Hollywood is attacked professing Christians for asking questions, is this not ironically a direct rejection by hypocritical, allegedly "biblical" accusers of Matthew 7's "log and speck" warning? May The Holy Triune God save us!!!
