#48110 Ben Chayyim Masoretic text

Posted by samturk on 16 April 2025 - 08:11 PM

Have you tried SwordSearcher? Here is what they say on their website:

———
The SwordSearcher Bible Software TR Bible text is a combined Old and New Testament Bible module consisting of the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament.

The Greek New Testament is Scrivener's Textus Receptus (1894), with Stephens (1550) variants indicated in footnotes. This is a text which, for all intents and purposes, represents the Greek readings selected by the translators of the King James Bible.

The Hebrew Old Testament (Tanakh) is the Masoretic Text from Ben Chayyim (Jacob ben Hayyim ibn Adonijah) and Christian David Ginsburg, with text selections made as necessary to represent the Received Text underlying the King James Bible. The SwordSearcher edition of the Hebrew Old Testament in this module uses standard KJV versification to more readily allow for comparative study.

I can’t use Sword Searcher because it does not run on a Mac computer. Although, I’m seriously considering buying a PC with MS Windows for this purpose.

I’m still hoping for an e-Sword module. How long would it take if I undertook the project myself, I wonder? How long should it take someone who is already an experienced module creator? Is it possible to pay someone to make the module? What would an estimated cost be? What would my learning curve be (time wise) if I did it myself? What tools would I need (hardware, software, know-how, etc.)? Is it possible that a team of volunteers could help if working with someone who is already experienced? Anyway, I guess I’m just musing.

I have attempted in the past to create a module for a new Indonesian translation but I didn’t get very far because I didn’t have the proper equipment (I was using my sons pc and he is now married) and I didn’t have enough time, I still don’t.

I, too, would like to see a Ben Chayyim Masoretic Text module. I don’t know how to create the modules but I’d be willing to help in any way I can.

The data can be found here: https://www.firmanel...-hebrew-OT.html

I can also provide a .txt file, if anyone is interested in making such a module. I don’t know which one would be more beneficial, txt or html.

#46274 e-Sword LT (update issues-Version 12.3.1) "Notes" data un-readable.

Posted by samturk on 22 May 2024 - 07:16 PM

I have made good use of being able to add notes to verses in the iPhone e-Sword app. Unfortunately, the last update (Version 12.3.1) has caused many of my notes to be un-readable. I get this message:

"This data couldn't be read because it isn't in the correct format"

Does anyone know anything about this? Is there any chance that this will be fixed in a future update? Is my data still there, or have I lost all my personal notes forever?

Hoping for hope!

Sam

#45183 Old ipad

You might be able to download and install the old version from the Apple App Store. I found this article that might help:

"How to get apps for old iPhones and iPads.

Downloading older versions of iPhone & iPad apps
Every app that you've previously purchased, but isn't currently on your device, will have an iCloud icon by it.

Tapping on this iCloud icon will install the app on your device. Don't tap away from this screen just yet, however. If the latest version of the app isn't compatible with the current iOS version you have, you'll have to wait a minute or so.

If this is the case, the App Store will display a notification saying that you can't download the latest version of the app. However, it will offer an alternative version of the app that you will be able to download."

(To read the whole article see the link provided. Or google "How to get apps for old iPhones and iPads" by Mike Peterson)

https://appleinsider...e older device.

I hope this helps,

#45117 How to submit a translation?

Posted by samturk on 27 September 2023 - 12:31 PM

Just saying "hi."

I'm trying to figure out how to use this forum.

My main purpose for getting on this forum is to find out how to submit a bible translation for upload.

A quick point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. What is "Step 1" to submit a Bible translation to be added to the list of Bibles for all users to have the option to download?

Best regards,

Sam
