In Topic: Removing Book Name Abbreviations in Tooltip?

25 March 2020 - 10:39 PM

Unfortunately it is not possible to change or remove the books names as they are hard coded.

e-Sword is set up to display the standard 66 books of the Christian bible, 12 Apocrypha books plus expanded versions of Esther and Daniel in bible modules and commentary modules

The 12 books of the Apocrypha that can be display by e-Sword are:

1 Esdras
2 Esdras
Tobit
Judith
1-4 Maccabees

The Prayer of Manasseh
Wisdom
Sirach
Baruch

If you are creating something other then a bible module you might want to consider creating a topic module which can be used with e-Sword's built in resource library. Topic files have more flexibility in what can be displayed then bible modules.

Hi TJ,

Can you point me to a resource or somewhere where I can learn more about this?

Thanks,

Nick

You can get the 1984 edition of the NIV for e-Sword from eStudySource.com. Click here to purchase and download it.

The NIV1984 is bundled with the current edition of the NIV and the NIrV, and costs $24.99.

Before the 2011 edition of the NIV came out, I bought the 1984 edition, and this was bundled with the TNIV and NIrV editions. When the 2011 edition for e-Sword was released the publishers dropped the TNIV. That one is no longer available for e-Sword, and the only way one will be able to get it, is from those who still have it.

Trust you will find this helpful.

Blessings,

I actually purchased the NIV set yesterday, but it only has the NIV 2011 and the NIrV, no 1984 edition unless I'm missing something here??

BTW did you want a copy of the NWT 2013 module??

If you are interested in having or comparing various editions of the New World Translations and other books used by the JW there is an excellent site with all of the versions of New World Translations and other materials in pdf format:

https://avoidjw.org/bibles/

This site has translations of the JW bible dating back to 1960 along with a large number of other JW related publications.

Thanks, I am not really interested in comparing them to be honest, I was just interested in the 1984 and their latest editions thats all as they are good to use in Apologetics against the JW's.  Thanks though!
