Why are some of the abreviated book names in the Bible window different in the Commentaries window?
Example 1 - Bookname James in Bible window is abreviated Jas and in Commentaries window Jam.
Example 2 - Bookname Phiippians in Bible window is abreviated Php and in Commentaries window Phi.
Example 3 - Bookname 1 John in Bible window is abreviated 1Jn and in Commentaries window 1Jo.
I know all the abreviations are acceptable, but I think it should be the same in all windows.
Is it possible that you can add a selection in Options menu to choose between the abreviations as default.

Hello,

You're right, I never noticed that. A commentary can be made with either Php or Phi, i.e. Phi_1:1 or Php_1:1. The same for James: Jas_1:1 and Jam 1:1. The same for 1 John.

This deals with how the commentary was originally constructed--probably the tool the module maker used to make the module. Mine are all consistent because I use Brent's ToolTip NT. But older resources could use other variations. Long story short, no there's no setting--the resource reflects the abbreviations used in the resource.

I never realized e-Sword allowed for multiple abbreviation types. What resource did you find this in?

Basically the reason you see this kind of thing is because in the days of 8x Rick Meyers changed a couple or few of the Bible Abbreviations. However, as a result of those changes, they weren't incorporated into text of some of the resources. That is why you see those kind of discrepancies. The resources haven't kept up with the changes that Rick made to the program, and going by the looks of what you blokes are saying, they still haven't kept up.

Hope this is helpful to you dudes.

Blessings,
