#8111 e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT

Posted by ebulerdo on 15 April 2012 - 08:55 AM in Module Creation Tools

Hi Brent

Try this first - delete the file: "C:\ProgramData\Tools4eSword\ToolTipTool.ini"
Then restart the program.

It's fixed. It seems Windows needed a restart. I should have tried that before bothering you.

It's working fine now.

Thanks!

Carlos

Hi Patchworkid

what Hebrew font does e-Sword use?  I know it is something like Titus Cyberbit basic, but what I am asking is name of font like HebraicaII or another Hebrew or Greek font

Josh has explained what a legacy font is. The good news is you will easily find converters from most legacy fonts to unicode. Just search Google for "convert hebrew legacy unicode". I found this one online that supports several different formats, but there are many more, as well as downloadable converters:

http://www.tertullia...rse/convert.htm

On the other hand, Titus Cyberbit, which is the default font for Hebrew and Greek in e-Sword, has a problem with pointed Hebrew text. Vowel points appear displaced to the left, in many occasions they seem to be under the next letter. A free font that I like a lot and fixes this problem is Ezra SIL. It contains all the Hebrew characters you may ever need, and it looks great. :-)

#8105 e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT

Posted by ebulerdo on 15 April 2012 - 05:39 AM in Module Creation Tools

Hi Brent

I just downloaded T4 1.10 and I'm getting a realy weird error.

When I run it I get a tx4ole17 error that says "The designated text area is too small for the new format settings". When I accept that a huge error window appears. I'm sending you a screenshot attached.

t4_110_error.png

Did I break something in my system as usual, or is it a bug in the new version?

I'm running XP SP3, and all previous versions worked fine until now.

Thanks!

Hi Brent

When does this happen?  When you first start the program?  I've not heard of any others having this issue.  Any other error messages before this one?

I see it's not a problem with T4, but with my system. The same happens if I install any older version, that used to work fine. So it seems I have broken something, but what could it be? What does T4 rely on? NET Framework, maybe?

Thanks for your interest.

#6212 e-Sword Tooltip Tool - Updated

Posted by ebulerdo on 05 February 2012 - 01:36 PM in Module Creation Tools

It happens whether I open up the document with T3 or paste in the data.

I also get an "RTF not available in clip board" pop up every time I try to hit the backspace key on my Windows 7 machine. This only happens when I have T3 open.

I may be the only one with this issue, as I have not heard that anyone else has it.

Hi Peter

I had the same problem recently with the backspace, and posted it here. Brent answered this, which fixed the problem:

"In T3 - click Options+T3 Clipboard HotKey. Set it to some obscure combination. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F12 or some such. The problem should go away. Some how it must have been set to backspace on your system."

#8562 Importing Bible with Special Formatting

Posted by ebulerdo on 27 April 2012 - 01:36 AM in Module Creation Tools

Hi Searcher

Probably will have to change the color of the text.

I have tried \scaps sometimes for Bibles that use "LORD" (in small capitals) instead of "Jehovah", but e-Sword doesn't support them, so I have ended up using regular capitals.

Since Jon mentioned that a request have been made that small capitals be included, so they might be supported in a future version, I'd suggest you use a different color but keep the \scaps tag. That way, when that feature is added, your module will work without need of any changes. Or you could just use regular capitals if that is possible.

Carlos

#6372 BeST 2

Posted by ebulerdo on 10 February 2012 - 05:40 AM in Module Creation Tools

Hi

Well, another possibility is using some SQLite tool, like SQLite Manager, to export the text to .csv or .xml formats, then use BeST2 to convert those to e-Sword 8 format.

But I agree that it makes no sense to go backwards.

#14354 Latvian E Sword Bible

Posted by ebulerdo on 27 November 2012 - 06:31 PM in Module Requests

Hi Don

I prepared the Latvian Bible a long time ago, and it looks great.

However, this version is copyrighted by the Latvian Bible Society. I have asked several people to talk to them and ask for permission to distribute it free of charge, but so far I haven't got any answers. Until that is solved, that module can not be distributed here.

Maybe you could contact the Latvian Bible Society and tell them about it?

Thanks!

Carlos

Oh, I forgot: The text for that module was taken from http://www.bibelesbi...ele/default.htm
Acts of the Apostles is included.

#8164 Latvian E Sword Bible

Posted by ebulerdo on 17 April 2012 - 04:07 AM in Module Requests

Hi

To anyone interested in the Latvian Bible module, I need the help of someone who has a printed edition of this bible.

Verse numbers in this version differ in many passages from the e-Sword standard, so I've had to fix those, leaving the original numbering colored gray and between parentheses. I have doubts, however, in three passages:

- One verse is missing at the end of Exodus 1. Verse 21 actually is verse 22 in the KJV, and verse 21 is missing ("And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.")

- Acts 24:7 and 28:29 are missing too. Those verses are thought by many to be spurious, and they are omitted in most modern versions, but usually that's marked somehow (usually with -- or a footnote, or something like that) to show the omission is intentional. In the HTML text of this Bible those verses are simply missing. Can you have a look at the printed edition and see what do they look like?

Thanks!

Carlos

#8116 Latvian E Sword Bible

Posted by ebulerdo on 15 April 2012 - 06:02 PM in Module Requests

Hi Brenten

I have finished building your Latvian Bible, and it seems it works fine in e-Sword 10.

Please, tell me what do you think the title, abbreviation and description should be. I think the title could be something like:
Latviešu Bībeles 1965 / Latvian Bible 1965

The comments should include the complete title, date, publisher, copyright, web source and any other useful information. And we need to choose an abbreviation like "Latvian" or "LB1965" or whatever is best.

On the other hand, it's important to know the copyright status of this translation. Please, could you contact the publisher and ask for permission to distribute it or at least for your personal use? The publisher is the Latvian Bible Society, and their email is lbb@apollo.lv

Carlos

#8104 Latvian E Sword Bible

Posted by ebulerdo on 15 April 2012 - 05:04 AM in Module Requests

Hi Brenten

Both OT and NT can be found at http://www.bibelesbi...le/default.htm.
We would greatly appreciate if you could build a Latvian Bible for e-sword since we are missionaries in Latvia and we recommend e-sword often.

I will give it a try today and get back to you.

#6373 Other changes in e-Sword 10.0.x

Posted by ebulerdo on 10 February 2012 - 05:44 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Hi Jonathon

Every time Rick releases a new version of e-Sword, it contains several things that he doesn't mention.
I started this thread, to document things I notice, that I don't remember being in earlier versions of e-Sword.

One new "feature" in v10.0.7 is that it blocks some resources by abbreviation. For instance, if you have a dictionary titled WordStudy, it won't appear in your list of dictionaries, unless you change the abbreviation to something else. I guess this doesn't happen if the file is the premium module.

#9624 Bold text in bible module

Posted by ebulerdo on 30 May 2012 - 04:37 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Hi MJ

I have a verse that ends with bold text. When the verse ends with a bold letter, the subsequent verses all are shown in bold, until there is another bold word or character. At which point the bold will be switched back off and continue as normal.
The results across a parallel view of multiple bible translations yeilds interesting results as well.

That is not a problem with e-Sword, but with the text itself.

E-Sword modules use RTF codes to describe format. In RTF, there are two ways to display some text in bold:

\b This is bold text \b0
{\b This is bold text}

In that text you mention, the closing tag (either \b0 or }) is missing, so the program interprets that all the text that follows that is bold too, until it finds some tag that resets the text to non-bold.

That's the reason why any format in the text (bold, italics, blue, red, or whatever) must be closed in the same verse, even if the next verse has the same format. I mean, if you have, for example, several verses in italics, every one of them must begin with the italics tag and close the italics at the end of the verse, not of the whole passage.

Carlos

#6746 Finding textboxes in a Word document

Posted by ebulerdo on 24 February 2012 - 06:34 AM in Tips for Module Creation

Hi All

I have a Word document with a bible that has been scanned and OCRed by someone. The OCR software has put some of the text in textboxes, so I need to copy their content to the main text and then remove the textboxes. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be too many of them.

However, I haven't been able to find an easy way to locate the textboxes. Do you know of any code that can be used to find them (such as ^p for paragraphs), or if not possible, some macro that would help me locate them?

Thanks!

Carlos
