#6623 e-Sword 10.0.4 Released (Test Drive Version)
Posted by Walter Hofman on 18 February 2012 - 05:03 PM in Announcements
I bought a brand new laptop with Windows 7. Loaded E-sword 10.0.7. Everything seems to work EXCEPT - I can't create Study notes attached to verses.. Went downstairs to desktop and they work fine. Returned to laptop, reinstalled e-sword and same problem. Have spent considerable time double checking files in "program (86x)" and "documents". Can't detect anything wrong. Journal notes work. Topic notes seem to work but can't get anything for Study Notes. Any suggestions?

As a parishioner for years, I have often felt there to be a lack of a coherent and systematic presentation of the "whole" Gospel. Now - as a Pastor - I appreciate how difficult it is to sit down and address the issue of methodically exposing the congregation to ALL the Scriptures over a given period. I somewhat tend to ride hobbyhorses on occasion and may have a solution that could work towards avoiding that. PLEEZ read on.
Simply put - it's a "Shepherd's Calendar". Every speaking engagement (am/pm sermon, mid-week Bible Study, ladies/mens group, cell groups etc) gets entered. THIS IS NOT FOR APPOINTMENTS OR MEETINGS ETC. Only speaking events for the parish. Every entry must open up a mini-database to accommodate the Subject, Scripture, support Scriptures, occasion of the message (sermon, B Study, Youth meeting etc), speaker and optional additional entries that can be labelled by the user. PLEEZ don't stop now.
At any given point in time the user is able to generate any list or combination of lists from the calendar to survey his progress. For example: a list of all New testament Scriptures preached on over the last year. Or - a list of all Subjects dealt with over the last 6 months. Or - a summary of scriptures and subjects dealt with over the last 4 years during the month of January, or Christmas, or Easter. OR - a list of the books of the Bible not preached on for the last 5 years. Or a list of all sermons from Revelation since I became Pastor here. Etc
Pastor or parishioner alike should be able to embrace this novel module concept for it would bring enormous benefit to all involved. I've never seen anything like it and sincerely hope this goes "e-sword viral" PLEEZ "LIKE" ME AND PRAY SOMEONE CATCHES THE VISION. Thank you and have a God-filled day!

I discovered this site last night. I used to read these magazines. Awesome material. Just awesome. Had no idea they were available online NO CHARGE. Priceless historical accounts of Church History and Growth of Christianity. Would be incredible to get this into e-sword Reference Books.

Well, I can only say that I am sorry so few Pastors use this. That would be a stat that I am not privy to. I know that I am the only user registered to Burlington Ontario and and I have only found one user in Hamilton next door. If that is the case and only a handful of users are Pastors - then I am very happy to be one of them. This prog is of enormous benefit and I wish I could do more to get other Pastors on to this. I know of a few who pay huge dollars for Logos etc. I can only think that they have more money than time to research the Internet and discover e-sword. I withdraw my suggestion and you are free to delete it. With regret - Walter.
PS - with 14,000 plus users - what wld happen if they all took time to tell their Pastors about this?

AGAIN I THROW OUT THE CHALLENGE: TELL YOUR PASTOR ABOUT THIS. BRING IN YOUR LAPTOP AND SHOW THEM HOW IT WORKS. WHAT A BLESSING THIS COULD BE. I AM SO SERIOUS. I HAVE DONE THIS AND AND PASTORS CANT BELIEVE THAT THE PROG IS FREE. They just go to Logos - bill it to the church - and thats it. E-sword is way better!!

This looks like an excellent resource. However, we would need permission to convert them into e sword since they are copyrighted.
If you could get permission I am sure that some of us would help convert them to e sword.
Blessings,
Peter
Dan Graves from CHRISTIAN HISTORY magazine has been back to me twice by e-mail. He must be busy but I have made a very clear request to him re: his mag as an e-sword module. Checking daily for his final word but the mater is in process.
