#35717 e-Sword Hotkey copying/pasting issues into word processor

Posted by BH. on 29 March 2019 - 09:00 PM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Did you turn the Popup back on, and can you see the verses popup using the Macro hotkey?   Also, have you tried the Bible popup hotkey?  Hotkey is installed with a few versions, but you can download and updated index file that works with e-Sword.  From the main Hotkey window, click the HotKeys menu, click the Select Version, and select the last option, "Download Lastest Index File" which will give you access to more versions if you have them in e-Sword. The Macro function give access to all the versions in e-Sword, but Popup does not. The reason for the Bible popup is that with the most recent versions of e-Sword, the macro functions are at least an order of magnitude slower that they used to be.

Try both the Macro and Bible popups, with the Macro popup enabled to confirm capture.  And if that does not work, where are you located, perhaps we can skype or talk on the phone sometime.

First - in HotKey - the Macros for Word should still be installed, not because you are using Word, but that HotKey is using the macro interface.  You can install any of the macros that work with your current version of e-Sword.  The popups happen when you press the HotKey to confirm you have captured the text.  It is automatically copies the text to the clipboard, and pressing Esc closes the Popup.  Then in your word processor, press Ctrl+V to paste the text in.  You are correct, it you Config, you can suppress the Macro Popup, though me personally I like seeing it.

The only items written to the Registry is the auto-start of the program on Windows startup.  IF you want, close Hotkey, and delete the "C:\ProgramData\Tools4eSword\ESwordHotKey.ini" file and restart the program.

Which function is causing issues?  The HotKey for the e-Sword Macros, or the HotKey for the Bible Popup?  It HotKey showing you the correctly found verse in either popup, Macro of Bible popup?  Please describe you setup, what hot keys you have designated and the process you are using completely so I can understand.

I am the author of the program and I find it working perfects - of course!  :-)

#35515 A Tribute to My Friend, Brent Hildebrand

Posted by BH. on 04 March 2019 - 07:04 PM in Announcements

Update - after having a nearly miraculous reversal in 25+ distinct tumor metastatic lesions and nearly resolution of all the bone pain, 2 more tumors have now appeared, these unfortunately are in the brain.  Further work on e-Sword Tooltip Tool and e-Sword HotKey will probably be greatly curtailed.  I had hoped to add some new features and building techniques but typing has become a challenge.  Mean survival after brain mets varies, but mean survival 6-10 months is one number in the literature. It could go on for several years, but symptoms don't look promising.  Hopefully someone will step forward and work on a new tool for e-Sword.

I rest in the True GOOD NEWS that God is not a God of force, violence, coercion or retribution.  There is no "heavenly Auschwitz."   Satan is the author of sin and all its results.  Sin kills.

For a graduate level course on the Book of Revelation by my friend Sigve Tonstad, MD, PhD, fellow physician, and who is also a New Testament scholar with a PhD from the University of Saint Andrews on the Book of Revelation, see:,  Revelation: Vision of Healing

His doctoral thesis resulted in the the following book:

"Saving God's Reputation: The Theological Function of Pistis Iesou in the Comic Narratives of Revelation".

He is also author of the book, "God of Sense and Traditions of Non-Sense", plus several others.  He has an up coming commentary on the Book of Revelation.

My thoughts for today:

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has spoken it.

Nahum 1:9 What do you imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

Romans 6:21 What fruit had you then in those things whereof you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

1 Corinthians 15:55-56 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? (56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I look forward to the end of the conflict!

Correction:  A BBLX in RTF should be #define Version=3.  A BBLX in HTML should be #define versionHD=4.

In this way, the source file can be used to build both RTF and HTML files.

#35326 Bible module creation newbie question/problem

You understand correctly that e-Swor4 supports a set list of canonical books.  For your project, I'd suggest making it a Topic Notes file, with links to the canonical books which would be viewed in the Bible view.
