#45538 What Modules do you want for e-Sword

Posted by JPG on 03 December 2023 - 12:31 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Doing some research on different versions of Bibles. Specifically, I need older versions of the NIV (1984, 1978, 1973). I have searched the web for older BBLX files for the NIV but have found none. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

These were all withdrawn by the publisher, so the only ones you will find are illegal ones at best.

#44609 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

I don't know of a way to do as you asked.

#44610 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Here is the file I fixed for making a .bbli Bible. This works on all latest versions e-Sword.

Attached File  B,1914 fixed for bbli type.rtf   24.38MB   12 downloads

So, you just need to build this from the Modules(4) menu

You might need to adjust some of the Hebrew transliterated text in Lamentations. Of course the other issue is it does not have the same versification as other Bibles, so that needs to be remembered. Especially true of Psalms.

#44612 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

T4 looks for the verse reference say Gen 1:1 and then looks for a hard return, which closes the verse

Soft returns are used to give a poetic sort of representation, otherwise T4 would see that as the end of a verse and be looking for the next.. Gen 1:2

e-Sword sorts out where the next chapter is.

You have the defines for a bbli file, which builds ok and works on all the latest e-Sword platforms

There might be one problem in the build but I am sure it would be easy to fix

#44607 Convert BBLX to .rtf, .html, .txt, mobi, .doc/.docx ? for Kindle?

Posted by JPG on 19 June 2023 - 04:27 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Issue at the end of Daniel 3:23 where you have the "extra verses" needs soft returns.

Remember that each verse in the file terminates with a return. If you need to add something like a heading etc you would have to use soft return and then a final hard return to indicate the verse end.

More fixes needed at Daniel 14:1, Revelation 22:21, Baruch 6:1, 1 Esdras 1:1 ,1 Esdras 2:1 etc 4 Maccabees 1:1, Prayer of Manasseh 1:1

Make .bbli

You just need to fix a couple of places. The first one needs the soft return as you have in other places.

Deuteronomy 34:12 Şi minunile cele mari şi mâna cea tare, care a făcut Moisi înaintea a tot Israilul.
Sfârşitul celor cinci cărţi ale lui Moisi.

Second place is ... get back to you with that one when it is reported.

Same for me. It gets stuck at about Jeremiah 52:22.....Hmmm looks like Lamentations needs some fixing with soft returns for the Hebrew word headings.

#45106 Paleo Hebrew

Posted by JPG on 26 September 2023 - 05:00 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

First problem is that there appear to be two (or more) fonts. One called Paleo-Hebrew and the better one called Paleo Hebrew, and it downloads as Paleo Hebrew Regular.ttf

Problem is that this is not a valid Unicode font. The maker has, as it were, simply drawn these Paleo-Hebrew glyphs in place of Latin hwhy. Of course these are typed in left-to-right in this font.

So no font setting in e-Sword will work to solve this. ToolTipToolNT does not have the ability to hard-code the font, without the use of a macro, and due to the death of Brent Hildebrand, I don't know of anyone else that can write the macro, so it has to be done the long way.

Make your Bible as a .bbli Module(4) which is html format.

Where you want to show your Paleo Hebrew font, I suggest you put these markers [P]and[p] as per this example(Capital P and small p are used)

÷Gen 1:1 This is a test using Paleo Hebrew font Paleo Hebrew Regular.ttf not the PALEO.TTF [P]hwhy[p]

Build the module

Close T4

Open the .bbli file in "DB Browser for SQLite"

Click on the Execute SQL tab

Paste in this code

update Bible set Scripture = replace(Scripture,'[P]', '<font face="Paleo Hebrew">') where Scripture like '%[P]%';
update Bible set Scripture = replace(Scripture,'[p]', '</font>') where Scripture like '%[p]%';

Click on Execute SQL

Click on Write Changes

Click on Close Database

All should be fixed to hard coded tags for the Paleo Hebrew font
