Vetus Latina manuscripts of the 6-7th C.
These are identified by the Beuron numbers (VL~) and the letters used in Nouum Testamentum Domini nostri Jesu Christi by Wordsworth and White, 1889. The Vetus Latina is identified as 'it ' in some New Testament critical editions. These manuscripts (ms.) are to be distinguished from the Vulgate Latin editions although there is textual admixture within mss. The distinction is made in choice of synonyms, spellings, and comparison with quotations in church fathers, etc. The Vulgate edition of Jerome in the late 4th C. is known from mss. which are mostly later than the 5th C. and some VL readings are found occasionally in mss. that are mostly Vulgate.
VL10/f_Brixianus (6th C.) (gospels) from “Nouum Testamentum Domini Nostri Iesu Christi Latine” by Wordsworth & White. Images viewable at https://brixiana.med...18-5bd1a6d0d42b
VL13/q Codex Monacensis or Codex Valerianus Munich, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Clm 6224. From an OCR of "Old Latin Biblical Texts, No. III, The Four Gospels from the Munich MS. (q) now numbered Latin 6224 in the Royal Library at Munich", Henry J. White 1888, Oxford. Modified according to the black and white photos available online at: http://daten.digital...0006573/images/
VL14/r1 Codex Usserianus primus (ca. 600) For Matthew the base text is Abbott's transcription (“Evangeliorum Versio Antehieronymiana Ex Codice Usseriano (Dublinensi)”, T.K. Abbott, 1884), but edited based on the ms. photos with conjectured text added from other VL mss.; extant text begins at Mat 15:12. Transcriptions of Mark and Luke are from an improved OCR of Abbott's transcription, but have not, for the most part, been compared with the ms. photos except as noted. Abbott transcribes text around the edges that is not legible in the modern color photos, so line breaks are indicated here by: → on either side of which letters may be lost or illegible.
The transcription of John for VL14 is from The Verbum Project, P.H. Burton J. Balserak, H.A.G. Houghton, D.C. Parker. The Arts and Humanities Research Council, The Institute for Textual Scholarship and Electronic Editing University of Birmingham 2.2.2011, Version 2.1, last updated 26.7.2017, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0): available for re-use provided attribution is made to the original creators (the IGNTP and any named participants) and an indication is given of any changes made. See further https://itseeweb.cal...transcriptions/ It is modified here only in formatting for e-Sword display.
VL22/j and VL22A/j (6th C.) (VL22 Jn 1-11; VL22A Jn 18:36–20:14) Original xml from https://itseeweb.cal...transcriptions/ based on Godu's transcription. Formatting modified for e-Sword display.
VL32 VL32 Lectionarium Guelferbytanus (6th C) From https://itseeweb.cal...ranscriptions/, modified for e-Sword display. The Lectionary has OT & NT readings, but only John is given here.
VL50/e (6-7th C.), (Acts, lacuna from 26:29-28:25) Laudianus. Base text was an OCR of Constantine Tischendorf "Codex Laudianus, sive Actus Apostolorum Graece et Latine" Lipsiae, 1870, compared with the Bodleian MS. online at https://digital.bodl...2a-05ec1f407e92 .
VL53/s (6th C.) (Acts 23:15-28, Jacobi (James), 1Pt 1-2:10) from a corrected OCR of "Codex Vindobonensi Olim Bobiensi", H. J. White "Old Latin Biblical Texts", No. IV, (1897)
VL64/r3 (6th - 7th C.) Fragmenta Frisingensia in Paul and the catholic epistles. No text is extant in Col., 2 Thes., 2 Tim., Titus, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John, or Jude; the others are partial. From a corrected OCR of Donatien DeBruyne "Les Fragments de Freising" in Collectanea Biblica Latina, Rome, (1921)
VL79/ gue Carolinus Guelpherbytanum from Anecdota Sacra et Profana, Constantine Tischendorf, Lipsiae (1855) (6th C.) (extant for Rom 11:33-15:13)
