#25017 e-SwordHD + iFunbox + iOS 8.3 = Not working :(

Posted by alex2131 on 09 May 2015 - 02:10 PM

If you use iFunbox to ingest your modules to e-SwordHD you won't longer be able to do so, this if you have updated your device to the latest version. Somhow Apple manage to change some things in the way we can transfer files in this update so that it is no longer possible to use iFunbox (or any other software) to ingest your modules into e-SwordHD. This goes the same with any other iOS App like games.

If your device is still in version 8.2 you are all good and iFunBox will work as always. This is only for those who updated the device to iOS 8.3.

I don't doubt sombody comes up with some fix to this but in the meantime we are very limited.

For now the best way to copy modules to e-SwordHD or e-Sword Lite is with iTunes.

Here are the steps, (Thankfully there is no need to Sync).

1. Connect your iOS device to your computer

2. Open iTunes

3. Locate and click the device icon

4. Select Apps

5. Scroll the window down to the File Sharing Section

6. Select e-SwordHD (iPad) or LT for iPhone and iPods)

7. Scroll a bit more untill you see the Add and Save to buttons

8. Click Add (This will open a Window, Browse where the module files you want to ingest are)

9. Select the Modules and click Add, Now iTunes will copy the files into your device.

10. Disconnect your device

Now verify that the modules has been copied to your device.

If e-Sword is open close the app including from the Multitasking and open it back again.

The files should be there.

I have tried this method even with a computer other than mine and it work well.

Update: iFunBox latest version has a partial fix to this issue that allows you to transfer files only on those apps that have "iTunes File Sharing" enabled to be open for sanbox browsing. Sadly it does not work as it use to but at least you can copy your modules.

This method is basically the same as using iTunes nothing more. With the old method you could actually "see" all your modules (and any other file) and organize them, rename, etc, now you can't.

#24628 thinking about mobile device purchase

Posted by alex2131 on 08 April 2015 - 03:39 PM

My question

what would be the best mobile device and the best mobile app to do this

I would say that the best one will be the ones you are more familiar with.

In my case, I have used Android tablets and iPads, I prefer the iPad, e-SwordHD and OliveTree BibleStudy App are the ones I use the most, actually I use them in "Tandem like mode" crossing from one app to the other with just a hand gesture. OliveTree with the Note pad or the Resource guide open and e-SwordHD with 5 to 6 Bibles opened in Parallel. I have the same apps at my desktops Mac and PC they both work like a charm. No issues at all and very stable, can't say the same for Android on my experience.

I also sync my notes from OliveTree Bible with Evernote, from there I can use it in any device of any OS, excellent tool.

If you prefer Windows OS, there is a new Window Surface 3 Pro tablet coming out, specs are very good, it will be capable of running Windows 10 full, a bit expensive thou, near $1,000.00 for the Pro.

#24357 eSwordX first impression and a few tips

Posted by alex2131 on 21 March 2015 - 06:40 PM

]Here my first impression of eSwordX

First it’s not free, this version cost $9.99 at the App Store. Not bad IMO.

Modules are the same extension of iOS devices (.bbli),  if your modules are PC versions (.bblx) they need to be converted first.
Importing the modules… lets say it could have been easier. You need to browse into the hidden Library directory, of course once you know how to get there its easy. A simple browse option would have been so much easier.
Purchased Modules are at the usual download area.

It behaves differently than the PC version, for example I liked the way I could hide all windows leaving open only the Bibles in Parallel mode, on e-SwordX this is not possible, all windows ‘resize’ but won’t hide. For me this is really a turn down because this is the method which I use the most. Hopefully it'll be added in future updates.

It does runs pretty smooth, fast, and stable. I just imported over a hundred modules and it handles them without a glitch. Thats good!

As a Graphic Designer I have to say the icon is so not up to Mac’s elegance, its very Windows98 I know this is just esthetic and does not affect in any way the apps performance but it looks so off in the Dock that I had to edit it myself :)

Here a few tips:

To convert the modules:
Download the converter (ironically this is PC only)

If you don’t have a PC:
Download Crossover and install it on your Mac.
https://www.codeweav.../crossover-mac/

Also download e-Sword (PC version) here and the Converter. here and install them.
If the link doesn’t work then the file might have been updated with a new name, if so go here: http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html and scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link to download the Converter Utility.

Crossover will work in Trial mode for a limited time, enough for you to convert the modules and import them to the eSwordX directory.

Once all  modules are converted:
On your desktop, Holding the option key, hit GO/Library and browse to this directory:

Library/Containers/Net.e-sword.e-Sword-X/Data/Library/Application Support/

Copy the converted modules there.

Its a good idea to create a shortcut of this folder: Select the Application Support Folder and do one of the following:
a. Right click over the folder and select Make Alias then drag that folder to your desktop or wherever you wish. OR
b. Drag the Application Support Folder to the Sidebar (I prefer this way).

If you wish to make a back up of all your modules this is the folder you must save.

Cheers,

Alexis

#19537 How to download esword modules to iPad

Posted by alex2131 on 06 December 2013 - 11:58 AM

hello there can you please teach me how to convert e-sword for pc to e-sword hd thanks!

Ferdie, converting modules now is very simple:

1. Download the Module converter for iOS here: http://e-sword.net/extras.html (Scroll to the bottom of the page).

2. Install it.

Important: You will find this tool inside the e-Sword directory, and not on your desktop, so its a good idea to create a shortcut to your desktop once is installed.

3. Open Converter.exe and Select the module you want to convert.

4. To import the module to iPad with iTunes:

Method One (iTunes)

1. Open iTunes,

2. select your device,

3. Click on Apps,

4. Scroll down to the File Sharing Apps,

5. Select e-SwordHD

6. Click Add

7. Search for the module you just converted and click ok

8. Click SYNC

Thats it!

Method 2 (iFunBox)

1. download iFunBox (its free) install it and open it

2. Click on User Applications

3. Select e-SwordHD

4. Select Library

5. Select Applications Support

6. Now drag the module inside this window

Thats it!

IMPORTANT

Don't see the module?

If e-SwordHD was already open in your iPad, Close it, (close it also from multitasking) and open it again, it should be there now.

Note: This instructions are done by using Mac, it might be slightly different in Windows.

Enjoy

#18613 How to install modules with eSword for Mac

Posted by alex2131 on 14 September 2013 - 08:00 PM

I would like to add that in case you want to drag the module file (not the .exe)

Up on your desktop click "Go" Select "Go to folder" and write this directory:

~/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/e-Sword 1020/drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword

and hit enter.

This will take you directly to the esword folder.

Notice that I wrote e-Sword1020 with Bold, this is because your directory could be named different.

If this directory does not work for you just write it up to "Bottles",

~/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/

Look for e-Sword folder then / drive c / Program Files / e-Sword

Now what I do next so I don't need to keep remembering all this directory is drag the e-sword folder to the Sidebar. That creates a shortcut for easy access.

Enjoy!

#18536 Creating Module with two fonts?

Posted by alex2131 on 09 September 2013 - 07:26 PM

Is it possible to create a module where the text have an additional font ? This is the case, I'm building a module where God's names is written in original hebrew paleo, the rest is in default font. Can this be done?

Thanks in advance.
