Steven,

I tried including a screen shot of the error box but this website would not allow me to include it in my topic. What I wrote above is the exact message I get. I am using d-Sword 13.0.0

TJ,

I entered the command in the command prompt and got an error telling me it could not find some things needed to execute the command in the specified directory. I am using Windows 10 Home version 22H2 OS Build 19045.3324.

In Topic: What Modules do you want for e-Sword

10 June 2023 - 07:02 PM

Hello module makers,

I have a 115 page pdf containing an overview of future prophecy that my brother-in-law has written. It has a lot of graphics. He has been a Hebrew and Greek professor and several schools as well as being involved in Jewish ministry for many years. I have converted it to rtf.

Would anyone be interested in creating a module from this resource?

In Topic: Vine's Expository Dictionary

I had an e-mail conversation with Phil from www.estudysource.com regarding this topic. Here are his comments:

"Vines is a Dictionary module in e-Sword, NOT a Lexical resource, like Strong’s or Complete WSD. It is a “reverse Strong’s” so it links via English words, not Strong’s numbers.

To search Vines using English words, enter your English word in the search window. To search Vines by Strong’s number: right click in the Vines Dict. window, and search using Strong’s number.

We look forward to serving you with bestselling e-Sword resources."

Following up another question from me he said:

"I should have clarified that the right mouse search functionality is for iOS e-Sword formats. You might want to check with Rick Meyers for PC and Android: rick@e-sword.net."

He may have read our thread (I invited him to look at it) and then wanted me to post the following:

Please also inform the community regarding copyright for all Vines content: copyright for all Vine’s publications was restored to W.E. Vine successors (W.E. Copyright Ltd.) via the GATT Treaty. Thomas Nelson obtained exclusive publishing rights for Vine’s publications from them. eStudySource licensed the right to publish and sell Vine's in e-Sword format from Thomas Nelson. Distribution or sale of Vine's content without a license from Thomas Nelson is a violation of copyright and is subject to legal action.

Here is the copyright notice in eStudySource’s edition of Vines: "Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, © 1984, 1996, Thomas Nelson, Inc., Nashville, TN; a compilation work published under an exclusive arrangement with W.E. Vine Copyright Ltd. of Bath, England. First Published in 1985 by Thomas Nelson, Inc., as a compilation of Vine's Expository Ditionary of New Testament Words, © 1968, which copyright is now restored by the GATT Treaty to W.E. Vine Copyright Ltd., Bath, England; and Nelson's Expository Dictionary of the Old Testament, © 1980, Thomas Nelson, Inc., and Topical Index © 1996, W.E. Vine Copyright Ltd. of Bath, England.”

I understand that TJ made his edits on his own purchased copy of the dictionary and is not making it available to us here but only using it for himself. I don't know if Phil caught that.

As I understand it, it all boils down to the difference between a lexicon and a dictionary.

I think the comment made by fotiost is still relevant, "Considering that Vines is a paid module, I expected it to intergrate just as well as the free modules." I recently purchased the module and will leave a review siting this discussion. I would hope that the developers of the module would fix the problems and issue an update.

Regarding PeanutGallery's comment, is there a way for me to get the Vines module to show up in this list, or is that something that the developer has to do?

Thank you,

GW
