The problem was real and experienced by some, maybe many, KitKat devices. MySword have made the point of providing rather verbose explanations on resolving this issue.

My Android Tablet doesn't need any external storage as it's used mostly for the 'net, my note taking, books, etc. My phone uses Android 4.4.4, due to be upgraded to 5 by Sony. Maybe when it's on Lollipop the problem might still exist because of Google's policy. If you upgrade your Android OS or get a newer device, which you won't need to for some years, you may experience the same issue. But I need to use external storage for my photo's, 4K video recording, etc, which are affected if there isn't enough internal storage, etc.

The problem is very real to newer versions of (some?) Android devices. Although My Sword isn't great it, but it can be handy to have on the phone.

Thankfully, my Windows Tablet has none of these issues and I use that for extensive Bible Study and teaching. On that I have a plethora of Bible Study resources and software.

Here's the solution to my problem.

Google introduced a new stipulation into KitKat (a version of Android) where data accompanying an App's system files must be capable of deletion along with the removal of the App. So that if you uninstall the App, all the extra stuff goes with it. (This was a very oversimplified explanation)

I contacted their support and was just sent a couple of links leading to swathes of irrelevant verbose waffle that ultimately seemed to suggest that you need to root your phone. Do I contracted their support again and requested the abridged version of this information, and I then received this excellent advice:

"Hi,

In Kitkat, you can use the Split modules path mode that is for Non-Rooted devices. In the Menu->Select modules path, there is a check box Split Modules Path below the text box for the path that you can check. If this is disabled (it is in some cases) it means the Kitkat version of the manufacturer is not fully Google standards compliant as it is not reporting the presence of the External SD Card properly (it is also disabled in case there is no SD Card).

Now using this mode, all Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries, Books, Fonts must be in the External SD located under: Android/data/com.riversoft.android.mysword/files, in the appropriate named folders. You can move all your modules there. However, the (Personal) notes and journals as well as mydata files (settings, bookmarks, etc.) are still in the Internal Storage for protection from accidental uninstall.
