I would suggest that you invest in a good, recent Bible dictionary/encyclopedia. That will give you a good overview. For a more in-depth study, you might try:
Ebed Doulos is well married, the father of four children and grandfather of a bakers dozen. Ebed has also been a licensed private detective, an Operating Room Technician, a Drill Sergeant and a Hospital Director of Materiel Management. He now collects versions, translations and editions of the English Bible (150+ in print and possibly twice more in electronic format) and is working on his Masters of Biblical Studies. For what it is worth, this is how I organize e-Sword on my dual monitor display. On my left (smaller) monitor, I have my Bible and my choice of Editor, Dictionary or Commentary. On my right (larger) monitor, I have my reference books and my map/graphics display. It works very well for me. Results may vary for those whose needs are different.

According to John 19:19-20 the titulus (plaque or parchment) placed above Jesus' head read "JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS" and was written in Latin, Greek and Hebrew. Apparently, neither Aramaic (the common language of Judea) or Arabic was on the document.
