#58299 Comments on UI changes in Version 15

Posted by JPG on 02 August 2026 - 08:44 PM

With e-Sword for the PC version 15.1.0 (updated by Rick Meyers 21 July 2026) the diacritic marks added to a letter to indicate a different pronunciation, stress, tone, or meaning, and diaeresis where a vowel is to be pronounced separately from the previous vowel, and may be replaced by another letter when transliterated into another language, some characters of which do not display correctly when using Verdana as the default font, display okay when the default font is changed to True Type Times New Roman, which apparently has an extended range of letter characters.

Rick Meyers appears to have implemented previous suggestions. To see the information name of the book you have open, use Right click. This applies to Bible, Commentary, Lexicon, and Dictionary. That's where the transcriber of the book into e-Sword added the front-page details of the name of the book, the author, the publisher and the copyright details, and may have copied the information that appeared in the FOREWORD and the PREFACE, and other important Information pages that appeared before the pages of the text of the book.

It is good to have it on the context menu. To me that is more intuitive.

Simply download the files again and you should be good to go.

Or in e-Sword go to main menu -> Options -> Resource Settings and navigate the Resources Location to where you had them for v 14.1

For example I had my modules on a D: partition D:\program files\e-sword. so I pointed it there by clicking on the folder icon at the right of the Resources Location. Restarted e-Sword and all was good.

#58226 Mysword replacing bible chapter with book chapter and notes.

When reading notes in a Commentary, there are three view options.

B (Display Book Comments)

C (Display Chapter Comments). The list of appropriate verse links are probably also listed.

V (Display Verse Comments). This has comments if they were linked separately for the selected verse number, in the selected Book and Chapter number.

Have you got a screen shot of these B C V options?

Fixes one issue for sure and that was a missing sub routine.

Paste Into xxxxx now works from the Dictionary view.

#58152 e-Sword 15 and Tooltip NT

Posted by JPG on 16 July 2026 - 09:58 PM

The older Windows modules format such as bblx, cmtx, dctx etc will not work in e-Sword 15 so before installing e-Sword 15 you will need convert any old modules to the html formats using either the e-Sword module converter, Tooltip NT or Simple Bible Reader

This is where confusion can start. When is a .bblx file not rtf content? Answer, when it is html content but sill uses the .bblx extension. We don't want newer or inexperienced users to attempt to convert the official modules do we? I do understand the intent of your statement but others may not.

Install this converter it is the official one from Rick Meyers. Of course you might need to move the resulting file to the appropriate folder as above.

Beware of posting code and post the file instead to prevent the forum bad language feature messing up you code. Spot where it thought there was an offensive word. It's the book between 2Ti and Phm which would be in Morse Code

#49967 So, What is Going on With BibleSupport?!

If it happens again I suggest checking via https://dnschecker.org/

to see if any of the DNS servers are down.

I had the same issue when using Google Chrome. MS Edge worked fine. I figured they were using different DNS servers and the server that did not work had failed. When I flushed the DNS on Chrome and also ran in a command prompt this:

ipconfig /flushdns

Restarted Chrome and the page resolved correctly.
