Hello! My name is Vaughn and I am a superuser of e-Sword!

Ok, so I have broken the ice! Maybe I'm jumping into something I may regret later however, I'm an EMT and I don't know how to stop myself.
I would like to know how many superusers are out there! If you are not sure if you are a superuser then you are not. Superusers have over a 1,000 modules. I'm talking about total and not the prayer list, or verse list either. I am talking about modules that have been made and uploaded and downloaded over the years. I know of at least 3 of us, (Josh, Jonathon and me! Odd, I just noticed that the other two have J's in there name as well!). But I would like to hear from others, so come on tell me how many modules do you have! I want to know why, how many, and how you use them. I believe that we, superusers can help others that are having problems and possible keep things from being made over and over, mislabeled, and many other minor task. So speak up confess to your addiction to e-Sword modules and sure your love of e-Sword.
I have over 6,000 modules now. 733 Bibles, 31 Bible reading plans, 310 Commentaries, 73 Devotionals, 316 Dictionaries, 88 Map and Graphics, 24 Harmonies, 44 References files, 18 Study Notes, and 4300 plus Topical files. This is a rough count as I gain more every day. I remember a time when 2000 modules was a dream, Now, I'm wondering if 10,000 is not to far away. Yes, there are some duplicates in the pile but there is a reason I kept them. If you would like to help me sort through them contact me. If you have questions about the existence of a module ask me. If it is technical, or about building a module I'm out! Well, now is your turn, join in and let me know who is out there and like of baseball cards maybe we can look at some trading!
Grace and Peace,
Your fellow Swordsman,

That's amazing to have that many mods. I have been collecting Bible translations and commentaries (the old fashioned paper kind) for years.

Recently I have been fascinated by a study of different Christian sects and denominations and have been looking for an E-sword version of the New World Translation, the Jehovah's Witness Bible. They released it on downloadable PDF at their website jw.org and I tried to figure out how to convert it to e-sword but its way over my head!

Anyway, God bless you and your Bible study!

In Christ,
Eric

I didn't start this website so people could trade modules like baseball cards. :) If they're copyrighted, you shouldn't be trading them at all. If they're not copyrighted, you should upload them so others can learn from them.

Plus, the issue with 733 Bibles, for example, is you cannot use them. There's no way, unless you pause your Bible study for 10 minutes while scrolling through 500 translations to find the "one". Then there's the issue of just keeping track of 700 Bibles and remembering the advantages/disadvantages. The human mind would have trouble keeping track of that many. My two cents. :)

My collection started over 11 years ago. My focus then and is now missionaries and those without the resources to purchase software that is filled with resources. Many pastors and missionaries have laptops with little or no internet access, (i.e. Taiwan, and Indonesia after the tsunami, east Texas were satellite internet is expense, New Mexico desert where it is almost impossible to get) so I burn CD's of resources and send them worldwide without question.
The number of resources is not hard to track I use directory listing software and a spreadsheet. I do not use all of the modules, some are in foreign languages that I do not read or understand. However, when a new resource becomes available I usually look at it and try and decided if it is similar to something I use or if it brings something new into light for me. MY standard set is NIV, KJV+, Message, and Amplified, if a new Bible can bring me insight I may read from it after I do my private study to see if I can read something else in it. If it does not line up with at least two of my other study materials then I will generally disregard it. If it is of a different belief than mine, I read it to get an understanding of what they do believe and how it translates to how I need to be prepared to answer them.
Some of my modules are very old and some are very large. My thought is I will one day when I have retired print portions of them to read and relish what those great men of God had to say. If my pastor is kind enough to tell me where a quote from some of the great men of God are from I do read those books as I time.
The one rule I have is that I do not send copyright material, period. I won't trade it or even uploaded to "storage sites". I have uploaded some to the old e-Sword User site, which I help start and Josh now has access to. Those all should be locked away and secure which I believe Josh will do.The copyright laws are so complicated that I left them to Jonathon many years ago and he has done a wonderful job of policing the internet of those modules.
What I would like to trade is those wonderful memory verse and prayer list. There are wonderful prayer warriors and people with such talent that I could only dream of making the kind of modules they do. I never started out to be a module collector but once I noticed how many great books are out there and are disappearing I wanted to ensure that they were preserved some where.

I have over 6,000 modules now.

And I remember when you were excited to have hit the 2,000 resource mark.

Now, I'm wondering if 10,000 is not to far away.

At least that many are currently available today, from the various websites that host e-Sword resources.
However, the majority of them suffer from quality control issues.

I am definitely not a superuser of esword though I do use it in my studies. I do use other programs and print materials as well. Even though I am far behind a lot of others in terms on the number of modules which I have, still I have too many of them. I think I only need a few (maybe 5 or so) good commentaries for each book of the Bible, and about the same number of each of the other types of resources. It is not likely that I will refer to more than about 5 commentaries for example when I am doing a study. The temptation for me is to collect alot of resources and not spend very much time in any of them. I think it would be far better to have fewer resources and dig deep into them. The problem is deciding which are the cream of the crop. I work full time and so do not have a lot of time for study. Maybe if I had more time I would think differently.
