Our Lord Jesus became the means of atonement by the shedding of His blood on the cross and dying on it to placate God and advert God's wrath away from the Believing Elect now able to receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. At His death, a new covenant was able to be enacted, and being sinless was able to take all our sins upon Himself, and His blood sprinkled upon the mercy seat in Heaven sealed that new covenant.
