#25026 e-SwordHD + iFunbox + iOS 8.3 = Not working :(

Posted by Gert van Zyl on 10 May 2015 - 10:54 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I managed to load the Bible file by NOT using the tooltip convert method but the module converter available from E-Sword. The commentary file however will not load no matter which conversion method I use. Also the LT version does not display Hebrew correctly when converting...

I have the same issue. It worked for me once only. I updated both the bible and commentary file and when I tried to update to my phone nothing worked - not even Alex steps above. It shows the file and seem to copy it. But the moment I run Sword Lt the files disappears again...

#24791 Converting Hebrew and Greek text

Posted by Gert van Zyl on 23 April 2015 - 11:23 PM in Tips for Module Creation

I want to include Hebrew text eg Dan 5: 25 :(the Mene Mene) portion to display the Hebrew text in the Sword bblx module. I am creating the file in Word 2013. It displays correctly there as well as in the rtf file. I am using "Hebrew" font in Word doc. Once I save the module it converts incorrectly. Can someone assist me? Is there a setting?

RTF display

@ysir]p'W lqeT] anEm] anEm

BBLX display:

@ysir]p'W lqeT] anEm] anEm

I read this from Josh:

"Greek/Hebrew Text

Unicode
Ideally, Hebrew and Greek text should be in unicode format. That means, for every character displayed on screen, the RTF text contains the unicode equivalent. Many times, when you paste Greek or Hebrew text from other sources, the unicode is present in the RTF code. If you use Tooltip3's Greek keyboard (or a third party Greek or Hebrew keyboard that supports unicode), you can simply copy/paste the Greek and Hebrew symbols into the text. The proper unicode copied, behind the scenes, into the RTF code. NOTE: T3's keyboard does not support Greek vowel accents and so I do not sure it.

Greek/Hebrew Font Choice in T3
When using Tooltip, Greek and Hebrew should be changed to the font: TITUS Cyberbit Basic, the text enlarged to font size 12-14, and the text colored blue (RGB - Red: 0, Green: 0, Blue: 255). This is essentially Rick Meyers' standard he uses for his modules.

The blue font color is purely for aesthetic reasons. But It helps break up the text and it helps the reader immediately recognize the foreign language. I highly recommend it and doing so can almost always be automated if your preparing the module in Microsoft Word."

I do not understand this. If I simply select the Titus font the display is incorrect. How do I change the text to unicode without retyping? Do I need to retype? Please explain in layman's terms for diots lol

Thank you Gentlemen! I appreciate all your input. Seems like I have to settle for the default display. You did help me a lot though.

#24769 Custom Bibile modules

Posted by Gert van Zyl on 22 April 2015 - 03:06 AM in Tutorials

I am busy doing a commentry portion on a cusom Bbile. The custom Bible contain Apro books. Some of them as well as normal bible books has additional verses (like Daniel). The commentary module will not validate these verses and therefore will not save the module. How do I deal with this?

Also can someone advise as how to show or display the Apocrypha like maccabees and sirach? I entered these books into my Bible module. As per the chronological order in the abbrev list. But the books do not display in Sword? Is there a setting?

Eish! OK Tnx.

I want to add chapter headings. But when I just add them without a verse ref the module keeps kicking it out. How do I add the headings?

#24715 How I make modules

Posted by Gert van Zyl on 16 April 2015 - 02:02 AM in Tips for Module Creation

This may sound crazy but Ive been making modules using the word. Then I use Josh's instructions to convert to e-Sword format. I like the visual editor. I can add content and then select what verses, books, chapters it applies to. When breaking up content or deciding how to divide content into chapters or verses or books... the visual editor makes it easier to keep track of what is where. No scrolling up or down in a large text document, I just navigate to where I want to go like I would when viewing a module.

How do you handle the number list? I need to number the verses in my Word doc. need help:

I am trying to create Bible file. My original document is in MS Word 2013 format.

Sample:

Genesis

The whole bible is in one Word document. The verse and chapter numbers has been inserted manually (not number lists). The number in the first verse reflect the Chapter number and not verse number. I would like to keep that style and start verse numbering from the second verse if possible. For the purposes of the module I need it to read:

Genesis

[JeshaJaH 45:18; Prediker 3:11]

Gen 1:3 En Elohim het gesê: Laat daar Lig wees! En daar was Lig.

However I realized that the module keeps giving errors if the reference of the verse is not proper. Thus I suspect by just keeping the chapter number in the first verse will result in errors? Can someone advise on a fast and proper way to do the verse numbering in Word which can be copy pasted into the module?

#24714 Custom Bibile modules

Posted by Gert van Zyl on 15 April 2015 - 11:38 PM in Tutorials

Is it possible to create a custom Bible which contains additional book than the standard Bible format. I want to add omitted books like Sirag and Enoch. Can it be done? It seems that Sword only recognizes the standard books?

Also I need to adjust the chronology of the Books - can this be done?
