#46246 Why am I getting the following error when creating a .bblx module?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 06 May 2024 - 08:12 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have recently made several interlinear modules both Greek and Hebrew using Notepad++

Here is a fix that might work:

First create the module as an html module with out the tables using Tooltip NT.
One you have created the module you can then open it using a program called DB Browser this will allow you to access the module's database.
The database will be organized into tables with one labeled "Bible" you will need to extract this table to a CSV file.
You can then open the CSV file in Notepad++ to change the html tags to create the interlinear tables you want.

Once you have the made all of needed changes you need to save the CSV file.

You will then need to import the saved CSV file back into the module database overwriting the existing bible table

#45168 Where to put modules on a Family Computer

Posted by Tj Higgins on 05 October 2023 - 10:01 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Unless I've missed something with Version 13 when you download modules they are placed in

C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

This makes the modules User Login Specific.

So, should I, and if so, where should I move the modules to?

If all the new modules are in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword will eSword find them all?

Thanks!

Yes e-Sword will find any module of any type that is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword.

When downloading from this site you should download the modules into your downloads folder and either copy and paste them into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword or you can install the module installer which will install them where you want them

Halot

Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament | HALOT (5 vols.)

As that is a copyrighted work, the copyright holder would need to give permission for an e-Sword module to be created. IF a module is created, it would likely be a premium or paid modules as it is for Logos Bible Software

Hi, All.  Is there a possibility for a Besorah Of Yahusha Natsarim Version (BYNV) module?

Thank you

As that is a copyrighted work the copyright holder would have to grant permission for a module to be made

#45542 What Modules do you want for e-Sword

Sadly, I was willing to pay a reasonable fee for them, but they were not available on the eSword site. I thought about reaching out to Rick, but not too long ago I enquired about trying to download the original 1611 KJV Bible for eSword and in this case he did not appear to be able to help me out. I would have thought they had older Bible editions archived and backup somewhere.

I have both the 1978 and 1984 NiV modules

Well, I did a search for the "1973 NIV pdf" and came up zip, nuder, zilch. So it looks like there isn't anything like an 1973 ed of the NIV running in some electronic format .

As Elder B said above the 1973 NIV was a New Testament only release and the full text of that NT was released in the 1978 complete bible release

What is "Microsoft Edge WebView2"? And what part does it play in the conversion of modules.

The Microsoft Edge WebView2 control allows you to embed web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) in your native apps. The WebView2 control uses Microsoft Edge as the rendering engine to display the web content in native apps.

This control replaced a previous control called WebBrowser starting with Simple Bible Reader 5.4

Posted by Tj Higgins on 20 April 2024 - 08:02 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Simple Bible Reader is as the title implies a simple piece of bible software designed to read modules from multiple bible programs including e-Sword, MySword  The Word and others. The programs is more then just a module reader it is also a module conversion utility. The program can convert modules between various  bible software programs which are listed below.

What is the difference between Simple Bible Reader and the e-Sword Module Converter?

While the e-Sword module can convert e-Sword modules from the Windows format to the Apple/Mac/Android format that is all it can do.

Simple Bible Reader on the other hand can convert e-Sword modules to MySword, The Word, MyBible and many more bible programs which are listed below.

Another major difference between the two converters is that unlike the e-Sword converter, Simple Bible Reader can do batch conversions of multiple modules at one  time

Simple Bible Reader can read and convert four basic types of modules: Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries and Books or Topic modules below is complete list of the modules that Simple Bible Reader can read and convert: The program can also be used as it's own bible study tool

Simple Bible Reader can be downloaded from this link:

https://trumpet-call...plebiblereader/

The program downloads ready to run without need of installation on the following versions on Windows:

  • Windows Vista SP2
  • Windows 7 SP1
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11

Current versions of Simple Bible Reader do not support versions of Windows prior to Vista however earlier legacy versions of Simple Bible Reader can be downloaded.

Once you have downloaded and opened the program you will see the Simple Bible Reader main window (see attached image). The main window has a standard windows menu across the top with the following labels: File, Edit, Layout, Settings, Help.

To do a basic module conversion you need to first open the module you want to convert in Simple Bible Reader. To do this you need to click File from the Simple Bible Reader Menu. Clicking this will open the Files drop down menu (see attached image). From this menu you can select which type of module you wish to open and covert, or you select a batch conversion if you need to convert multiple modules.

For this example I opened a bible module in Simple Bible reader as shown in the attached image. To convert this module you will need to click file a second time to open the file drop down menu. This time from the bible select "Export Bible" this will open a "Save As" window where you will name the converted module and select which format to convert it to and the location module will be saved to The Save As window has two dropdown boxes one for the name and one that lists all of the bible modules your module can be converted to (see attached image).

Once you have named the new module and selected which type of module to convert it to, the last step is to click the Save button in the Save As window. Clicking this will start the conversion process. The conversion process is very quick and after it is complete you will find the newly converted module in your chosen location. This process is the same for converting Bibles. Books, Commentaries and Dictionaries

While most module conversions are simple basic conversions, there maybe times when you need perform a special conversions due to the formatting of a module. SBR can be adjusted for the needs by clicking Settings from SBR menu which will open the Settings drop down menu. From this menu select Preferences to open the Preferences options window (see attached image). Note be very careful with Preferences settings for further information consult the SBR users guide at the following link:

https://trumpet-call...der-user-guide/

To perform a batch conversion of multiple modules click File from the SBR menu to open Files drop menu then from the drop menu select "Batch Convert" this will open the batch conversion window (see attached image). All of the modules you wish to batch convert must be in one folder which will be the source folder once you select the source folder for the modules you then must select the location where the converted modules will be saved to, this will be the Target location. You must select the module type for both the Source location files and the Target or converted files in order for the batch conversion to work.

Simple Bible Reader also allows the use of Plugins to better aid module conversion using Simple Bible Reader. The Simple Bible Reader website offers a few plugins but you can create your own plugins for your own special conversions needs. For further information regarding plugins consult the SBR users guide mentioned above.

#45876 Updated American Standard Version (USAV+)

Posted by Tj Higgins on 07 February 2024 - 08:34 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

The Updated American Standard Version is now available for e-Sword as free download through the program's built in downloader:

The Updated American Standard Version (UASV) is a literal translation. Translating from the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek is a task unlike any other and should never be taken lightly. It carries with it the heaviest responsibility: the translator renders God’s thoughts into a modern language. What does that mean?

It means that our primary purpose is to give the Bible readers what God said by way of his human authors, not what a translator thinks God meant in its place.

In other words, our primary goal is to be accurate and faithful to the original text. The meaning of a word is the responsibility of the interpreter (i.e., reader), not the translator.

The translator remains faithful to this literal translation philosophy unless it has been determined that the rendering will be misunderstood or misinterpreted. The translator is not tasked with making the text easy to read, but rather to make it as accurately faithful to the original as possible.

UASV PURPOSE

The primary purpose is to give the Bible readers what God said by way of his human authors, not what a translator thinks God meant in its place.—Truth Matters!

UASV GOAL

The  primary goal is to be accurate and faithful to the original text. The meaning of a word is the responsibility of the interpreter (i.e., reader), not the translator.—Translating Truth!

#45181 TS2009 Hyperlinks to TS2009 Dictionary Notes not working. Fix?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 06 October 2023 - 07:27 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

When clicking on the word "Passover" in the blue text in the TS2009 Bible in the footnote following Exodus 12:11, it is properly hyperlinked to the Dictionary, TS2009 Notes tab - and the Dictionary topic "Passover" properly appears.  Thus, I don't think that the blue footnote text in Leviticus 23:5  is causing the problem, and I don't think that your Tahoma font is causing the problem.  The most likely culprit is the lack of a space between the "a" and the "Passover".  There is no valid topic entry for "aPassover" in the TS2009 Dictionary.  I don't know why you could click on "aPassover" and it would work fine on another computer.  Since the TS2009 Bible is an official module that is downloadable from within e-Sword, it is more tricky to edit that module to add the missing space.

ElderB

ElderB is correct that the lack of space between some of the words and the superscript letters is causing the issue

Please ignore my earlier response

#45176 TS2009 Hyperlinks to TS2009 Dictionary Notes not working. Fix?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 06 October 2023 - 06:44 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

When clicking on blue text in a verse in the TS2009 Bible (e.g. Footnote: aPassover - see below) it is not hyperlinked to the Dictionary, TS2009 Notes tab - and it is all blank. This works fine on another computer. I have uninstalled & reinstalled TS2009 Bible (mind you the TS2009 Notes tab remains after uninstalled) . I am using Tahoma for the font.

Lev 23:5  ‘In the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon, between the evenings, is the Pěsaḥa to יהוה. Footnote: aPassover.

Thanks in advance.

Blessings,

Peter

The TS2009 dictionary module is not a complete dictionary module of the entire TS2009 bible it is collection of explanatory notes on a small number of words within the TS2009 bible text.

The words do work with other dictionary modules where the words are actually listed

#45778 Transferring ESword to a new computer

Posted by Tj Higgins on 10 January 2024 - 08:37 PM in Tutorials

I followed these directions but they did not work for me. I bought a new laptop and copied the files from my old laptop but my Study Notes are not there. The scriptures that I highlighted on my old laptop are highlighted on the new laptop but all the Study Notes are missing.

I installed version 13.0 on my new laptop. My old laptop has version 12.1. Would that matter?

Both laptops are running Windows 11.

I submitted a request for help a couple of days ago but have not received a reply.

I hope someone can help me soon!

Did you copy the notes from the e-Sword folder located in the Documents folder? This is where your journal, topic and study notes are saved to. The need to be copied to the same folder on the new computer

#44964 transfer of mysword modules to e-sword

Posted by Tj Higgins on 30 August 2023 - 06:03 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

No need; v5.2 works well; I can always wait for 5.5

Thanks anyways

No problem but be advised that there was significant upgrade with version 5.4 as the built in web browser was replaced with Microsoft Webview 2. This change requires the installation of a number of dll files that are included with version 5.4. Not having 5.4 installed is the reason 5.4.1 and any future version will not operate correctly
