All the Hebrew words of the Bible are connected to their roots and defined within their ancient cultural context and meaning.

All previous Biblical Hebrew lexicons have provided a modern western definition and perspective to Hebrew roots and words. This prevents the reader of the Bible from seeing the ancient authors original intent of the passages. This is the first Biblical Hebrew lexicon that defines each Hebrew word within its original Ancient Hebrew cultural meaning. One of the major differences between the Modern Western mind and the Ancient Hebrew's is that their mind related all words and their meanings to a concrete concept. For instance, the Hebrew word "chai" is normally translated as "life", a western abstract meaning, but the original Hebrew concrete meaning of this word is the "stomach". In the Ancient Hebrew mind, a full stomach is a sign of a full "life". The Hebrew language is a root system oriented language and the lexicon is divided into sections reflecting this root system. Each word of the Hebrew Bible is grouped within its roots and is defined according to its original ancient cultural meaning. Also included in each word entry is its alternative spellings, King James translations of the word and Strong's number. Indexes are included to assist with finding a word within the lexicon according to its spelling, definition, King James translation or Strong's number.

To those of you having problems with the fonts:

In e-sword click Options in the menu, then click Font settings.

Scroll through the fonts until you find Arial. Just arial, not one of the variations. Click Arial, then restart e-sword. You should no longer have a problem with fonts.

That is not a solution. Not when you want other font settings.

That is not a solution. Not when you want other font settings.

Moreover, this Lexicon requires the specific Ancient Hebrew font set. Without them it wont work.

Ancient Hebrew dcti file wanted to open in one of my apps. The dctx file downloaded but would not open. I got a warning about the .exe file and it wouldn't download at all.

Ancient Hebrew dcti file wanted to open in one of my apps. The dctx file downloaded but would not open. I got a warning about the .exe file and it wouldn't download at all.

Which version of e-Sword were you looking to install it in, the Windows versions or one of mobile versions? The mobile versions require the dcti file version which is ahlb.dcti.

The exe file is for Windows users only as the the ahlb.dctx file

Irrespective of the type of e-Sword which you are using, you need to download the ahlb fonts. These are in the file ahlbfonts.zip This file, after you have downloaded it, needs to have the contents all extracted. When you do so, you will find that there are seven different entries inside this unzipped file folder. Each of these seven fonts need to be installed onto your computer device, into the relevant fonts folder. The seven different True Type font files are as follows:

ancheb.ttf  bsthebre.ttf  olbheb.ttf  semear.ttf  semlate.ttf  semmid.ttf  semmod.ttf

WCUTRER, The different file modules provided to members on the <http://www.biblesupport.com> web site are all designed to be viewed through the "e-Sword" program, because all the modules are integrated to work on a database file structure, where the KJV of the Bible is first loaded, then the associated Commentary, Dictionary, or Lexicon modules that support that version of the Bible, where the books of the Bible are provided in a specific order, with each book having the content divided into numbered chapters, and the sentences of the chapters divided into numbered verses. The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible enables you to view words in dictionary order, which have letter characters written in Ancient Hebrew characters, with the accompanying explanation written in the English language. The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon needs the special associated fonts to have been provided and installed on your device, also. You will need to have loaded these other Bibles to your computer from the designer's website www.e-sword.net before expecting the different files that you can download from Bible Support to be able to display on your PC or laptop running Windows 11, or on an Apple or Android device. These contents are not provided in a flat word text format, nor in PDF format, but have been designed to work to a database format. The current database (designed in the year 2000 with constant updates to the year 2026) runs in 32-bit format. If the 64-bit operating system of your PC has deprecated essential components of the 32-bit modules, then these programs will not run on your device. Please notice the details of the name of the website, at the top of the screen.
The different file extensions of files do NOT need to all be loaded onto the same version of e-Sword, but have been made to download as required, to cater for Bible Study running with either e-Sword for Windows, or using e-Sword for the Apple Mac, e-Sword HD for Apple iPad and tablets, e-Sword LT for Apple iPhone, or using e-Sword for Android devices.

Please make sure that when you download the dictionary file, (one of the .dcti or .dctx files), that you also download the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon Font files. The fonts need to be unzipped, and then the seven contents installed into your device.

FOR INFORMATION: As from 2026-August-12 there is a Lexicon, Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible, available from the e-Sword DOWNLOAD tab
