Polygamy may not be defended in the Bible, but it is not condemned, outright, either. King David had many wives and concubines but the only one that he was punished for was Bathsheba, in that she was already married (adultery) and David had her husband, Uriah put in a position whereby he would be killed. In 1Kings 15:5 we read, '... David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that He commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.'
