Jesus Sends the Disciples in the Boat so that He can Pray Alone, then Walks on Water, Peter Gets out of the Boat
(Mark 6: 45-52) (Matthew 14: 22-27, 28-33)(John 6: 16-21)16, 22, 45Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side of the sea to Bethsaida, three miles from Capernaum. 46 After bidding them farewell, it had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. For He Himself was sending the crowd away. 23 and after He had sent the crowds away, (15) Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew and He went up on the mountain by Himself alone to pray. 47, 19, 24 The boat was already a long distance from the land, them having rowed about three or four miles, 18, the sea began to be stirred up, for the wind was contrary, a strong wind blowing, and the boat was battered by the waves in the middle of the sea. 25, 48 Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. 26, 49But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; they were terrified supposing that it was a ghost, and cried out in fear, “It is a ghost!” 52for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. 20, 50, 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said to them, “Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid.” 21 So they were willing to receive Him into the boat, 28Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32, 51then He and Peter got into the boat with the disciples, and the wind stopped; 33 and they were utterly astonished, And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
