#16273 Epistle epilogues in word counts

Posted by resurrection2016 on 17 March 2013 - 06:54 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Thanks, again, Katoog. I searched through \cf25 to try to find bold black type, like that used in the headings for some of the Psalms, but I couldn't find it. Any ideas?

Is there a list of all REGEX font colors (cf1, cf2, etc.)?

Thanks, Katoog!

#16183 Epistle epilogues in word counts

Posted by resurrection2016 on 10 March 2013 - 06:55 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Apparently e-Sword automatically includes in word counts the epilogues to some of the epistles (eg. do a search for "church"), like:

"Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea."

Is there a workaround to automatically NOT include them in word searches?

Thanks.

#14480 Search error II

Posted by resurrection2016 on 01 December 2012 - 03:55 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Searched for "seal seals" in the Revelation under "Search for any of the words", and instead it searched for the root "seal", almost like "Partial Match" was selected, which it wasn't. It therefore brought up "sealed" also in the search results.

Restarted e-Sword again and got the same result.

Any suggestions?

#14002 Search error

Searching for the phrase "I will" in KJV errors out in 2 Samuel 15:34 and won't list any results after that (in 2 Samuel). Here's how the verse should look:

2Sa 15:34
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

But here's the search results for that verse:

2Sa_15:34
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so {i will

Any thoughts?

#10948 REGEX question

Anyone?  Why does this work?

Thank you. That did seem to work. Can you explain why?

#10913 REGEX question

Posted by resurrection2016 on 14 July 2012 - 02:27 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Maybe I missed it in the REGEX section of the tutorial, and maybe I missed it cursorially searching the forums for an answer, but I'm wondering how to do a REGEX search for any plural/possessive/hyphenated, etc. forms of the root string that DO NOT include the root string. For example:

"God's"
"Gods"
"God-...."

But NOT "God".

Thanks.

Josh Bond, et al.  Here is Rick's response:

" Apostrophes are considered a word-part, that is why even Regular Expressions
exclude them from the word boundary. Words like don't, I'll, etc., are not
even legitimate words without the apostrophe.

If you want to excluded possessive forms, then use Regular Expressions and
place [^'] at the end of the search term.

Rick Meyers

Got it. Thanks.

Just forwarded to Rick. Hopefully this gets fixed, as it is annoying not being able to trust my search results.

Ohhh, never mind. You must be using a diff version than KJV - it doesn't appear in KJV. Got it.

#10585 Search problems

Hmm, it doesn't for me; made sure regex was selected and typed plund\w and got nothing.  Is this a known glitch for version 10.1.0?

Furthermore, including "Jesus Christ's" in the exlcusion box for exact phrase returns 0 results.

And why doesn't "plund\w" return "plundering"? (regex)

But thanks for the suggestion - I will forward to Rick.

Why does e-Sword automatically include apostrophe s endings on base words searched, whether in "exact phrase" or "REGEX" mode? Example, "Jesus Christ" includes the two verses where "Jesus Christ's" appears. Thank you.
