#8850 Converting Online Bible modules to a txt file, then to ITBWTW, and then to My...

Posted by DV_Boyz on 04 May 2012 - 04:11 PM in MySword

This is a link to a tutorial that explains how to convert a PUBLIC DOMAIN Online Bible module (onlinebible.org) to theWord (theword.net) which can then be converted to a MySword Bible module (mysword.info). Do not convert copyrighted Bibles, like NIV, NASB, NLT, etc.

The instructions (seen in the tutorial video) and script file are available here:

The NIV, NASB and NLT are already digital. It would take less than one day to convert them. Probably one hour.

You've got to be kidding. Why would that be a bad idea? Seems like it would be easy money for the publishers.

Do you have .NET Framework 3.5 installed?

If enough people ask a publisher to provide their particular Bible translation in MySword format, it would be easy for them to sell the module on their web site.

For 64-bit Windows, please copy the System.Data.SQLite.DLL file located at the x64 folder into the main folder overwriting the same file there (which is actually for 32-bit Windows).

I forgot to mention that I would like to preserve the tags, if possible, since MySword supports tags.

#5903 Instructions for Making Your Own MySword Modules

Thanks for your Bible conversion instructions. I have successfully converted the NASB, NIV, and NLT that I purchased to MySword.

Now I would like to transfer my 7000+ notes to an editable MySword journal (I have been creating electronic notes and journal entries since 1999). The notes are not tied to specific verses - they are just general Bible topics/issues/notes.

How do you recommend I do this?

All my notes exist in a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet columns are:

Note title
Note category (there are only 6 categories)
Keywords-tags (there are around 125 different tags, and a note can have multiple tags)
Note content (I try to keep the notes under 4000 characters).

There are only 6 categories, and the category is reflected in the keywords, so this is a redundant element that can go away if needed. Also, the tags can be combined with the note content if necessary.

I have access to Windows XP 32bit, Windows 7 64bit, MS Access, MS Excel, and the usual text editors.

Thanks.

Dan
