#20934 Help Error Opening Topics Notes Database

Posted by bankheaddaniel on 24 April 2014 - 07:48 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

It's possible to change the location of e-Sword's Application Files (Bookmarks, Journal, Markup, Study and Topic). Open Notepad, and copy the registry info below into a blank text file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword\Settings]
"Markup File"="D:\\Data\\My Documents\\e-Sword\\markup.ovlx"
"VerseList File"="D:\\Data\\My Documents\\e-Sword\\Bookmarks.lstx"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword\Editor]
"Journal Notes"="D:\\Data\\My Documents\\e-Sword\\journal.jnlx"
"Study Notes"="D:\\Data\\My Documents\\e-Sword\\study.notx"
"Topic Notes"="D:\\Data\\My Documents\\e-Sword\\topic.topx"

Next, edit the location of the files to match the location of the '\MyDocuments\e-Sword' folder [on your computer]. Don't forget to use double-backslashes (\\) when doing so. Then, save it with the Registry File (.reg) extension. To do that, click 'File' [on the Menu Bar...top left], and select 'Save As'. Name the file 'e-Sword File Locations.reg' [or whatever name would be easiest for you to remember]. Next, select the 'All Files (*.*)' option in the the 'Save as type' box [located just below the 'File name' box]. Finally don't forget to save the registry file in a location you can find.

Now, go to the location, double-click the file, and confirm that you want [it] to make changes to your Registry. Then, re-open e-Sword, and all should be well.
