#15265 What I'm wanting to do.

Posted by pfpeller on 12 January 2013 - 06:50 PM

Asus Transformer. I loaded MySword to look it over. Prefer not to use Bible programs on tablet (looked at them all). I've created epubs of each Bible book and use ereader. Use desktop for study (Win7) using E-Sword. I just thought might be some way of using KJV.bblx (converting it in some way) as a standalone resource file for linking references on tablet (I know it's used in E-Sword). The reason I want to do this is more control over format and font size because of vision problems among other things. Somthing similar to Tooltip saving html referencing to Biblegate, only the source instead of Biblegate would be the KJV on tablet. If this could be done it seems a more straight forward way as opposed to MySword route. Hope this is clear and thanks for your imput.

Trust me, the MySword route is a hundred times easier than what you are trying to do.

You can control the font size in MySword through preferences/ Text Size.

I could convert your e sword resource to MySword in about 2 minutes with working links.  It is very easy once you have the hang of it.  You will be able to jump back and forth between your resource and the Bible effortlessly.

E sword KJV.bblx is encrypted so you will not be able to read it in anything but e sword.

MySword is already set up to do this,

Someone more techy than I am might know of another way.

#15218 Scripture References

Posted by pfpeller on 08 January 2013 - 09:59 PM

Does anyone know of a program that will display scripture verses in Word when we are building modules? By this I mean when we type in a reference and then place the curser over the reference it will display the verses. I had a program that did that but it doesn't work anymore.

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but if you have theWord has a clipboard monitor.

If you have this function turned on in theWord it works like this:

Type in a scripture reference in Microsoft Word

Select it and right click and select copy

The scripture will appear and then you can copy it right from the pop up

And a 2nd PS to my previous posts:

In my opinion, there should not be ANY negative attacking type files or system here, if you're doing the Lord's work.

Attacking ANY creed is anti-Christian. Besmirching ANY reputation is anti-Christian.

How weak is one's own faith if one feels compelled to justify themselves by attacking another creed?

Many of those who write books to point out errors are those who sincerely believe there are seroius issues of belief and practice that are impacting the eternity of those who adhere to them.  Their work is generally not meant to justify their own faith (I am sure there are exceptions), but to help others examine their beiliefs.

It is a common assertion to say that it is anti-Christian to point out error.  However, the New Testement clearly teachers and demonstrates otherwise.  The scriptures must be our final authority, not Catholic apologists, or any organization.

The apostolic authority ended in the time of "the apostles".  We must look to their writings to understand the faith once delivered to the saints.  Many of their writings arose out of the need to point out errors that had crept into the churches.

Blessings,

Peter

#15169 Free Kindle book until the end of the year

I am told this testimony of a Jewish Convert to Christ is an excellent book and it is now available for free on Kindle:

http://www.amazon.co...ve me alone I'm

UPSIDE DOWN IN A TOTALED AUTOMOBILE his first thought was, “Jesus can’t be real! This would not have happened if Jesus was real.” But that is not the end of the story for this young Jewish man. Moments later, Ron Cantor finds himself enveloped in what can only be described as the raw power and presence of God Himself.
It all started nearly a year before, when the ADHD agnostic Jewish teen witnessed his best friend go through a dramatic life-changing encounter with God. While his first response was, “What’s this got to do with me; I’m Jewish,” it ultimately caused Ron to face the fact that he had no idea if God was real or how to find Him. A search ensues that leads Ron to a dramatic confrontation on October 21st, 1983.
“No heavy, boring read here! You will enjoy every page that follows, and if you are Jewish, especially an American Jew, you will relate to many of the people, places, and events. The names may be different, but his grandparents, parents, and sister, could be your grandparents, parents, and siblings. And many of the struggles he went through will resemble the struggles of your past—or even present.”

Today is the last day to get this book for free on Kindle.

For those of you who use Kindle, there is a book that is free until the end of the year.  I really enjoy Dr. Michael Brown's material.  He is a Messianic Jew.  In this book he addresses American cultural questions as they relate to the church in 70 different articles.

The articles include:

  • Separation of Church and State: Misinformation and Hypocrisy
  • "Mutant" as a Codeword for "Gay" in the X-Men Movies
  • Please Stop Sexualizing Our Children
  • The Girl Who Thought She Was a Werewolf Vampire
  • Dan Savage Savages the Bible, Christianity, the Pope
  • What Christian Orphans in India Can Teach Our American Youth
  • Is Kirk Cameron an Accomplice to Murder?
  • The Man Who Married the Goat

I listen too his line of fire radio program often:  http://www.lineoffireradio.com/

#14902 Devotionals - Ironside - The Continual Burnt Offering Devotional Droid MySwor...

This is a 365 day devotional by Ironside entitled "The Continual Burnt Offering"

Thanks to Dr. Dave and Rich for their work on this module.

Harry A. Ironside
1876 - 1951

Few preachers had more varied ministries than this man. He was a captain in the Salvation Army, an itinerant preacher with the Plymouth Brethren, pastor of the renowned Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, and conducted Bible conferences throughout the world. Sandwiched between those major ministries, Ironside preached the Gospel on street corners, in missions, in taverns, on Indian reservations, etc.

Never formally ordained and with no experience whatever as a pastor, Ironside took over the 4,000-seat Moody Memorial Church in Chicago and often filled it to capacity for 18 1/2 years. A seminary president once said of him, "He has the most unique ministry of any man living." Although he had little formal education, his tremendous mental capacity and photographic memory caused him to be called the "Archbishop of Fundamentalism."

Preaching--warm, soul-saving preaching--was his forte. Special speakers in his great church often meant nothing; the crowds came when he was there. He traveled constantly at his prime, he averaged 40 weeks in the year on the road--always returning to Moody Memorial for Sunday services.

His pen moved, too; he contributed regularly to various religious periodicals and journals in addition to publishing 80 books and pamphlets. His writings included addresses or commentaries on the entire New Testament, all of the prophetic books of the Old Testament, and a great many volumes on specific Bible themes and subjects.

In 1951, Dr. Ironside died in Cambridge, New Zealand, and was buried there at his own request.

#14852 Merry Christmas!

Posted by pfpeller on 24 December 2012 - 10:34 AM

I hope this is the right forum for this message, but I would like to wish everyone on this site a merry Christmas and all the best in 2013. We may not always see eye to eye on theological issues, but I have felt welcome on this site and I hope next year I can keep contributing the little bit that I do. One is already in the works for MySword users ;-)

Regards,

Rob

Merry Christmas to you too Rob!  Thanks for all you do for MySword users.

I am praying for God's blessing to come to you in 2013!

#14735 MySword 3.4 Released - MySword now has Text to Speech

Posted by pfpeller on 16 December 2012 - 05:44 PM

Pete,

Can you put up a sample audio file of your Brit reading something to us?

Dave,
I will have to see if I can figure out how to record it...

#14713 MySword 3.4 Released - MySword now has Text to Speech

Posted by pfpeller on 15 December 2012 - 10:43 AM

MySword 3.4 is out!

See this link for all changes:  http://www.mysword.i...id-3-4-released

Text to Speech

My favorite is the new text to speech feature which is available for the free version.  You can now have MySword read any translation I want while driving in the car or laying in bed, ect...

It is recommended that you get a human like voice from the google play market.  I like the English Amy from Ivona.  This is free while it is in beta.

If you long tap the "Play" button, you can change the text to speech settings.

Your default voice has to be set through the android device settings.

See play button in the lower right hand corner:

This is the screen that pops up if you "long tap" the play button:

Screenshot_2012-12-15-08-44-17.png

Background Music

MySword also allows you to put instrumental music .mp3 files in the MySword/music folder that will play in the background while the Bible is being read to you via text to speech.

I put my favorite instrumental music in the folder and created my own dramatic audio Bible :).

#14514 WIndows 8 Mobile

All,

I am just guessing on this.... but until Windows 8 has a much larger market share, I doubt there will be a Windows 8 app for e sword.

I think this will be a wait and see how Windows 8 does.

#14304 Reference Books (topx) - Gaebelein, A.C. - The Prophet Ezekiel

Posted by pfpeller on 26 November 2012 - 09:05 PM

File Name: Gaebelein, A.C. - The Prophet Ezekiel

File Submitter: pfpeller

File Submitted: 26 Nov 2012

File Category: Reference Books (topx)

Author: Gaebelein, A.C.
e-Sword Version: 9.x - 10.x

Gaebelein was a Christian Jew who believed in the veracity of the promises of the Old Testament. He writes from a pre-Millennial, dispensational, literal point of view.

There are not many commentaries on the Book of Ezekiel. So, all by itself, this is a relatively rare breed. This is not just any commentary, though; it is a very good one!

The fact that this book is copyrighted ln 1918 is astounding. The temptation to spiritualize these prophecies is enormous; yet Gaebelein consistently wrote that Israel, as a nation, would be restored - literally. While it seems obvious now to all dispensationalists that these prophecies had to be true literally, in 1918, that was quite a statement! Bible prophecy, literally understood, is astounding!

For more than half a century evangelist, author, journalist, and Bible expositor Arno C. Gaebelein passionately proclaimed the prophetic truths of the Bible and daily lived with the hope of their fulfillment. With a ministry that bridged two centuries and endured two world wars, Gaebelein never doubted the relevance of the study of prophecy for spiritual growth and for interaction with the chaos of culture. In the midst of the thundering storms of World War I, he encouraged Christians not to despair, for the trials of this world would one day give way to the triumph of Christ. In 1915 he wrote:

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back! He may be here at any moment! He may come today! Now this is not a foolish assertion that He will come today. Nor is it the setting of a specific time for Him to come, which would be equally foolish and wrong; yet many do it. It is the sober statement of a fact, to arouse souls from their carelessness and indifference, and point them to the clear testimony of God's only Word that the Lord Jesus is coming again , and may be here today (Meat in Due Season, 64).

From the Forward by James Gray:

I know of no expounder of Holy Scripture on this side of the Atlantic in the same class as Mr. Gaebelein. His work on the Old Testament prophets especially is unique. To understand and expound them not for scholars but for the people, calls for a combination of gifts bestowed upon very few.

Such a teacher must believe in the inerrancy of the autographs of Scripture. He must interpret it literally except where it clearly indicates to the contrary. He must apprehend the dispensational scope of its teaching. He must know and rely upon the Holy Spirit as the revealer of the truth whose record He has inspired. He must have a working knowledge of the Hebrew text and be able to pass intelligently on questions of Biblical Criticism. He must be familiar with the writings of others who have preceded him. He must be a platform man in constant communication with the people whom he would instruct. He must be no dreamer, but wide-awake to current events and capable of looking upon and dealing with them in a practical way. He must use simple terms and express himself in plain speech.
Mr. Gaebelein meets all these demands, for which we who reap the benefits give God the praise.

Circumstances have prevented my reading all the chapters of this present volume on Ezekiel, and hence I do not undertake to endorse every detail of interpretation it contains, but a general acquaintance with the author's point of view as expressed in his volumes on Daniel, Joel, Zechariah, Matthew and Revelation leads me to commend it strongly.

Pastors, evangelists, Bible teachers and Christians generally who would be counted among the wise who understand, need such helps as this as an antidote to the false teaching flooding the church today, and to enable them to stand up against the wiles of Satan on every hand. Familiarity with the revelation of God in the Old Testament is simply indispensable to the Christian witness in this twentieth century, and to the soldiers of Christ in this crucial hour of spiritual combat.

#13927 MySword Manual

Posted by pfpeller on 08 November 2012 - 09:26 PM

Thank you, yes I've seen this one, and it is a little rough. I was hoping someone had already made a pdf manual or cheat sheet for MySword though.

There is no manual that I know of besides the mini user's guide:
http://www.mysword.i...ini-users-guide

And instructions for using the Deluxe tablet edition:
http://www.mysword.i...-deluxe-edition

A manual similar to what Josh did for e sword is needed.  I do not have time to undertake such a project right now... but maybe at some point in the future.

Blessings,
Peter
