#16703 Wuest

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 23 April 2013 - 04:16 PM

hi

The price should include two modules a Bible and a dictionary I think.  You could say $10 for the bible and $15 for the dictionary or how ever you want to look at it.

thanks

This bundle is Bible and Commentary (the old bootleg version of Wuest had the dictionary as well) It  also has six "topx" files containing

reference works.(see blurb below)  The commentaries don't cover all of the New Testament (see blurb).

Here  is the blurb from the "commentary"

The Classic Word Studies Collection from Kenneth Wuest!

This collection offers a wealth of information covering most of the original New Testament--all in non-technical language! Now even Bible students who don't know Greek can discover the wealth of truth and meaning in the original language of the NT. Wuest's commentaries and studies clarify many of the English words that do not fully capture the meaning of original Greek words. The topical word studies, devotional studies, and commentaries opens a doorway of discovery to the NT!

This e-Sword Wuest collection includes all of the content from the original 3-volume printed set:

- Wuest's commentary on these NT Books: Mark, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Hebrews, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude. These will appear as a commentary module in e-Sword.

- Six Wuest reference books: Bypaths, Golden Nuggets, Great Truths to Live By, Studies in the Vocabulary, Treasures, and Untranslatable Riches. These are accessed in your e-Sword Reference Library.

#16630 The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible

How do they justify those prices? It's almost Pharisaical.

Since they did the work of the translation, they are free to set the price for the fruits of their labor.  Considering the hours of effort it might not be too high, and the price most likely will come down as time passes.  Personally I tend to agree for an e-copy that is a bit high.  Of course if they set the price of the e-version too low, it would cut deeply into the sales for the dead tree version.

#16477 eSword & MySword

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 05 April 2013 - 04:43 AM

The programs run in different venues.  There is no e-Sword for smart (android) phones, MySword runs on android phones, but not under Windows.....

e-Sword runs under Windows, but not under android.

The have most of the same modules in common, so they complement each other very nicely.

#15939 Trouble with the "search" feature here.

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 23 February 2013 - 09:05 PM

I've been having issues with the "search" bar here at BibleSupport.  For example, I typed in Far Above All in the search box, made sure it was set on e-Sword downloads, and it came up with zero results.  However, I uploaded the "Far Above All" translation over a year ago, and found it in my list of uploads.  Peter P also uploaded the MySword version, and it didn't show up in the search either.  Is this an effort by the folks who run the ip board program to force people to use the now-default Google search? (which, by the way, is really annoying).

-Brad

Google search has been the default search here for some time, I agree that it is very annoying to have to keep changing it, especially since most browsers have a web search engine easily accessible in their tool bar.

The default should be (in my not so humble opinion) e-Sword downloads, but then others may prefer mysword downloads or help files depending upon what their needs are most of the time.

#15741 Hebrew / Jewish resources for e-sword?

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 09 February 2013 - 06:03 PM

Shalom to everyone...

I would to ask you, if u can help me and tell me, is there a some resources (commentaries specifically but and other resources) for e-sword, that are written from Hebrew standpoint. For example: Rashi, Rambam etc. or some more recent comentaries of Messianic Jews or any Jewish resources.

Commentaries are most useful, because they are connected to verses or chapters of Bible.

Maybe this is odd question for someone, but I would like to have everything from Hebrew or Jewish standpoint in my e-sword.

Thank you very much

You might try these modules from this site (commentaries)

http://www.biblesupp...r-notescmtxexe/

http://www.biblesupp...h-bible-extras/

http://www.biblesupp...-tanakhcmtxexe/

Topx files

http://www.biblesupp...coveredtopxexe/

This is a dictionary module

http://www.biblesupp...-talmuddctxexe/

And though this is not a module the Chabad Site has a copy of the Rasi

http://www.chabad.or...-with-Rashi.htm

I'm certain that others will have more; these are just the ones I have had occasion to use.

#15707 under Commentary tab default to "Display Chapter Comments"

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 06 February 2013 - 04:28 PM

And it would also be nice to be able to skip forward to the next chapter comment.

To change to the next chapter of the Bible you can press F8, if your commentaries are set sync with the Bible verses shown then the Commentaries also move to the next chapter...and it stays "stuck" on chapter comments (on modules that have chapter comments).

#15619 New Bible translations available online

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 03 February 2013 - 07:03 AM

It is a common misconception that e-Sword is run by a company, it isn’t.

Rick Meyers is e-Sword.  He does the programming and everything else (and has a full time job by which he supports himself and his family) the expenses involved in maintaining e-Sword’ site and so on are defrayed by user donations.

The same goes for the Bible Support site, one person runs it, maintains it and pays for it, any donations received go to defray the expenses (and they are not small) of running the site.  As such he pretty much sets the tone and the rules.

As to theological the bents of the people involved:

The e-Sword site has a link to the church where Rick Meyers worships: http://www.gracechapel.net/

I don’t know for certain about Josh, but I seem to recall he once mentioned attending a church affiliated with the Calvary Chapel.

For purposes of full disclosure, I am not in any way staff here (but I do seem to pound my keyboard a lot) the church I currently attend http://www.gracecares.net/

(I serve as a Sunday School teacher and elder) is affiliated with the CBA (Conservative Baptist Association of America); but very large part of my theology was formed while attending Calvary Community Church in Phoenix http://www.calvaryphx.com/

Personally I have found the best way to counter bad theology was with good theology.    I used to study cultic teachings, but found it more efficient to study the real rather than the counterfeit.

The main thing is to insure that the words being used are properly defined, as the cultists redefine Christian words like salvation, Trinity, sin and even who Jesus is to suit their theology so that they sound Christian but mean something totally different.

My motto: “Know scripture and make sure all parties are speaking the same language.”

#15556 ESV for e-sword leaves part of verse out

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 01 February 2013 - 07:31 AM

There is a new version of the ESV in the e-Sword downloader.  It is dated 01/25/13 and corrects the omission in Obdiah 1:1 dscussed here.

#15337 ESV for e-sword leaves part of verse out

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 17 January 2013 - 12:25 PM

My copy of the ESV module has the same error. It is possible that there are two ESV modules in circulation.  Mine is the one from the e-Sword built in download revision dated 02/10/12

#15325 Apocalypse of Peter

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 16 January 2013 - 09:01 PM

Hi Folks,

Is there an e-sword reference / book / bible with the Apocalypse of Peter in it?

TIA,

Clint

I don't think so.  If you want to read a copy, you might try here: http://gnosis.org/naghamm/ascp.html

That is the Gnostic Library collection of the The Nag Hammadi Library.  There is a copy there.

There is also a copy here: http://fam-faerch.dk...ocl/apcpaul.htm

I doubt that therewill be a module made of it as the pseudographia (basically the whole of the Nag Hammadi library isfar removed from Christian theology.

Thank you, Baunllaw. I don't normally make that mistake. I must have been really tired last night.

Marvin Clapp

A little "secret": quite frequently the reason someone knows the answer to question like the one you posed, it is because they have had the same problem themselves in the past.   :D

#15222 downloads

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 09 January 2013 - 06:29 AM

I am having problems installing the TRi, "Textus Receptus" module When I finish the download, the module is listed as a "my bible" type and not ".bblx" type. It will not call up the e-Sword Module Installer program that normally appears when I double-click the icon. When I manually load the file into e-Sword, it goes off by itself to it's own category. It does not appear in any part of e-Sword. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you,

Looks like you downloaded from wrong section. This site has modules for both E-sword and Mysword.

This downloads the E-sword version  http://www.biblesupp...d-parsing-info/

#15057 Macros

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 31 December 2012 - 11:40 PM

OK - I have uploaded a new version with fixes for Macro Study Mode and Lookup.

One of the truly great things about this site, many of the people who make the modules are here much of the time...mention a problem and it tends to get fixed quick.  :D

#15049 Macros

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 31 December 2012 - 04:21 PM

Generally speaking, if you hit accept (or copy depending on the macro) the verses go to clipboard if they don't go directly to the document, so puting your cursor where you want the text and doing a simple control C should do the trick.

Since you seem to have macros installed, you might consider using an e-sword utility called HotKey, it uses the macros but works with just about any thing that will allow you to paste text.

http://www.biblesupp...e-sword-hotkey/

There is even a new feature that lets you just type in the reference ( John 3:16 as an example) and look it up and let you paste it in (at least that is how I read it, haven't tried it yet).

(From the download page blurb)

New for version 3 of e-Sword HotKey.  If you have installed e-Sword Macros on your system (see http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html), then e-Sword HotKey will create a new menu item called "Macro" which will interface with e-Sword Macros.  Hightlight a section of your document that contains scripture references and copy it to the clipboard.  Press the Macro HotKey (default=Ctrl+')(control quote), and HotKey will search the selected text, find the scripture references, and then look them up in e-Sword in the currently selected Bible version as set by HotKey (not e-Sword) and place the references back into the Windows clipboard.  You can then paste them into your current working document if it is an text editor, or email client program.

PS, if you had everbroken your hoe, and tried to use it anyway, you would know hoe handles a very usefuland intellegent invention. ;-)

#15044 Bookmarks and links inside the same file

Posted by Tim Butterfield on 31 December 2012 - 02:02 PM

The alternative might be the one adopted by the person who made the Companion Bible Revised, 1909 by E.W. Bullinger module it has a commentary (Companion Bible Notes by E. W. Bullinger) and a dictionary component  (Bullinger's Appendices) in e-Sword dictionary format. Select this dictionary from the e-Sword dictionary tab, and when you click on an Appendix in the e-Sword commentary, the appropriate appendix will appear in this dictionary.

You might want to check how they work together; it might prove to be a viable work around.  The modules are availible here

http://www.biblesupp...bible-1909bblx/

http://www.biblesupp...s-and-graphics/

One commercial module (the NASB+ module which is part of the NASB module has both Strong's numbers and references to related verses (like a center line concordance), but I have never seen an explanation of how it is done.

If you don't have it you might want to invest $20 you can get it here
