#24615 thinking about mobile device purchase

Posted by DSaw on 07 April 2015 - 04:59 PM

I'am thinking about getting some sort of non phone mobile device fire HD7, gallaxy 4 tablet etc.

main use would be have a bible program with searching and note taking on verses or an editor to load verse and take notes for a bible study

but I would like to be able to transfer those notes to a windows machine

the notes would not have to be view able in esword or theword but if that was posible that would be great

My question

what would be the best mobile device and the best mobile app to do this

thank you

#24091 A question from a beginner

Posted by DSaw on 22 February 2015 - 06:36 AM

Hello everyone,

I've had esword for a while, but only got 'into it' the other night when I found this site!  I also use Glo, but love to surround myself by my books  :)

Anyway, I like to use a few different commentaries at once but was wondering if there is a way that eSword can 'bookmark' where I left off.  If I scroll down on one commentary, switch to another, then come back to the first, I have to find where I left off starting at the top.  Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance for the help!

Hi

I have 2 suggestions

1. open multiple eswords  switch eswords and you should be right where you left off because your not changing commentaries your changing esword apps

2. before you change comenntaries highlight your stopping point with a bright color so when you come back to it you will be able to scroll down and find you stopping point quickly

Highlighting is module specific it not universal

#23589 Beza's Greek New Testament

Posted by DSaw on 05 January 2015 - 04:08 PM

Hi David,

I will call this my final offering so you can release.

Not being that literate at Greek, but there seems to be something wrong with the way some of the Capital Greek has the accents are combining. Am I correct?

See Matt 1:1, 25; 2:1; 27:37; Mark 15:26; John 19:19; Rom 1:1; Heb 1:1;

If you look at the PDF of Beza for Capitals the accents are on top and to the right however the single fonts that are available for Titus cyberbit basic are as you see them to the left side

And Thank you for the proofing time

as for the up down not quite sure what was going on there so I selected all took away all superscripting then ran the format Strong's again

#23178 Searching for sequential numbering

Posted by DSaw on 14 December 2014 - 09:40 AM

Hello

In the Bibles that use Strong’s is there an App that will search for multiple occurrence

of the same sequence of Strong’s numbers in all verses

Example the sequence G1223, G3739, G156 appears in the verses listed below

δι᾿ G1223ἣν G3739αἰτίαν G156

Luk_8:47; Act_10:21; Act_22:24; Act_23:28; 2Ti_1:6; 2Ti_1:12; Tit_1:13; Heb_2:11;

This App would show all sequences and the verse locations for all sequences

A regular search only works when one knows the sequence of numbers

Thanks

#22997 FB Meyers Commentary Question

Posted by DSaw on 29 November 2014 - 02:25 PM

Hi

I will try to explain

for an example go to Mark 1:1 go to book icon for the questions as you know

the fist question is

1. What man was sent of God to prepare the way for Christ?

change to V icon for verse

and read

Mark 1:1-20

the Beginning of Jesus’ Ministry

Mar_1:1-20

The ministry of John the Baptist, Mar_1:1-8. Always the message of John precedes that of Jesus Christ; first the changed attitude of the will, then faith. The greatness of the Baptist revealed itself in his humility. He saw what we must see, that a negative religion, symbolized by water, is not enough: we need to be set on fire.
The opening pages of Christ’s public life, Mar_1:9-20. Jesus was recognized by the Baptist, who beheld the opened heavens and the descending Spirit. If the Lord was thus anointed ere He commenced His life-work, how much more must we be! Hast thou become united with Him in His death, made one with Him in His resurrection, and anointed by that same Spirit? Then be sure that thou, too, must be tempted. Sons of men must go the way of the Son of man, now under the opened heavens, then tempted of the devil; on one side the wild beasts, on the other the angels; now driven to loneliness, and then to the crowded street of the cities, there to gather disciples by the energy and beauty of a victorious life.

then go back to b for book comments question 2

2. What word may be taken as the keynote of this Gospel?

go to V for verse again then click next comment

and read

Mark 1:21-39

the Helper of the Needy

Mar_1:21-39

The word straightway is typical of our Lord’s life. It occurs at least eleven times in this chapter (r.v.), and is the keynote of Mark’s Gospel, which is pre-eminently the gospel of service. The ancient symbol for this Gospel was the ox. There is comparatively little said in it, as in Matthew, about the King; or, as in Luke, about the details of Jesus’ humanity; or, as in John, about His divine sonship. There are suggestions of all these, but emphasis is laid on the unresting labors of Jesus, who went about doing good. In illustration of this trait in the Master’s life, the evangelist narrates the proceedings of two typical days, the one at the beginning, the other at the close of His ministry. The first typical day is recorded in this chapter, Mar_1:21-38. The morning was spent in the synagogue, where at the close of the service the demon was cast out; the afternoon witnessed the healing of Peter’s wife’s mother; the evening beheld the throng at the door, whom he healed. Early next day He had gone forth for prayer, and forthwith started on a mission throughout all Galilee. The second typical day is recorded in Mar_11:20-33; Mar_12:1-44; Mar_13:1-37.

each click of the next button should corispond to the question number question 3 you would go to V icon click next comments 2 times to get to the third comment question answer and there should be the answer

it may be less time consuming if you print out the questions and just click the next comment icon to advance
