I like the app theme, but I will gladly turn it off to get the topic list to come up faster. I will also turn off the topic list and turn it back on only when I need it.
I use the topic list especially when doing word studies. It is very helpful in this case. My primary dictionaries for this include Strongs, NASEC, BDB, and Thayer.
When a Greek or Hebrew word is derived from another word, e-Sword allows me to do a mouse-over to pop up the definition for that word. That is awesome! I can't, however, click on that entry to pull it up in the primary window and follow the "chain" back to its roots. (Sometimes they are "derived" several levels deep.) This is when I use the topic list to search for the entry and follow the chain back.
