#46115 e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT

Posted by PeanutGallery on 29 March 2024 - 09:24 AM

ToolTipTool NT 20190819.exe ; I find to be most stable; complete removal of current installation of ToolTip NT is needed to avoid .dll conflicts.

#46074 Linux Mint 20: E-Sword 12 search not linking to verse results

Posted by PeanutGallery on 15 March 2024 - 10:02 PM

There is an alternative to using Wine on Linux and that is a program called Crossover Linux from Codeweavers that might help e-Sword function better

https://www.codeweav...rossover/#linux

I use e-Sword 11 and 12 on MXLinux 19 and 21. I have not run into any problems.

As for dll's, winehq.org once had a listing for e-Sword and suggested the following dll's:

mfc42.dll , msls31 , msxml3 . msxml6 , vbrun6 , vcrun6 , wsh57 , corefonts

#45840 Creating Bible Modules with Strong's Numbers

Posted by PeanutGallery on 25 January 2024 - 06:05 AM

...
There 8674 Strong's Number for Hebrew words and 5624 Strong's Numbers for Greek words in order to add all of the Strong's number to a bible text will require using the Find and Replace method 14298 times.
...

More than that; what about words like 'love' that use different Strong Numbers. A global search/replace would complicate things.

#45458 Is there a place to download e-Sword 8x or older?

Posted by PeanutGallery on 21 November 2023 - 06:02 AM

A web source of older versions of e-Sword.exe is found at https://e-sword.informer.com/versions/

e-Sword v.11 not listed; however it can be found at:

https://e-sword.en.u...indows/versions

#44822 e-Sword for Android updated August 3, 2023 in the Google Play Store

Posted by PeanutGallery on 05 August 2023 - 10:13 PM

What's new

Bible searches can now use Regular Expressions! Just wrap the expression in the REGEX() command, for example:
REGEX(\b[Aa]fter\W+(?:\w+\W+){1,6}daysb)

Typo?
should be days\b ; but then I also realized that adding the \ causes an emoticon to appear; I unchecked [ ] Enable emoticons, but emoticon still appeared in post.

Maybe it was not a typo, but rather a way to avoid the emoticon.

#44703 Option to Remove Hebrews from Pauline Epistles Search

Posted by PeanutGallery on 15 July 2023 - 07:11 AM

...

Below shows exactly why it can't be done...

First step was to select:
Search: Paul's letters (Rom -- Hebrews)

That would eliminate the need to search for Romans in the Range:

Second step was to cut out Hebrews from Paul's list, without having to search for Philemon:
Range: Select Philemon

Results: will not include Hebrews
..........
As for the image; I have not been able to duplicate the original image, so I have no idea why 'Paul's letters (Rom -- Hebrews)' remained visible after I selected Philemon.

You mean like:

Search: Paul's letters (Rom -- Hebrews)

Range: Select Philemon

Results: will not include Hebrews

#44093 Vine's Expository Dictionary

Posted by PeanutGallery on 21 February 2023 - 08:28 PM

It seems that the strongs numbers in Vines are not formatted correctly for e-Sword, the good news is that this can be fixed using e-Sword Tooltip NT

Or, incorrect settings in e-Sword: Options -> Strong's # ToolTip ; check to see if Vines is listed and available.

#43895 How about a regex forum

Posted by PeanutGallery on 13 January 2023 - 02:40 PM

I wonder how many would be interested in a Regular Expression Forum.

Could be useful for those wishing to troubleshoot or master ways of using regex in e-Sword.

#43365 Curious about RAW and NUM

Posted by PeanutGallery on 04 September 2022 - 12:13 PM

Could not find info on help file nor in forums; I'm just curious about the purpose of RAW and NUM found at the bottom of e-Sword 11.2.2.

#43214 Tooltip run in linux wine

Posted by PeanutGallery on 12 August 2022 - 11:12 AM

Thanks again. I was able to install this into wine.

it does appear it creates just the bblx, which is fine for me.

I can always load windows to make a bbli if necessary.

ToolTipToolNT may work on Linux:

#43213 Running ToolTipToolNT in Linux

Posted by PeanutGallery on 12 August 2022 - 11:09 AM

I was able to install ToolTipTool NT 20190819 under Wine in Linux; It requires mfc42.dll installed in order to register with regsvr.

However, I do get the following error when executing the software:

Report the following:
VALUE ERROR
TXBar9[93]             b ⎕wi 'list' ('-' Before ¨ Speak 'Voices')
                                                  ^
_________________________________________________________________

TXBar9[93] *
TxCtrl[135]
Start[85]

It does startup; testing it to see if can successfully create modules is another matter.

#43203 Tooltip run in linux wine

Could you possibly provide a link to TooltipTool352 that you mentioned?

typing that as written in the download secition comes up empty.

kind regards,

M

You can try here:

https://sites.google...rd/file-cabinet

I think ToolTipTool352 was for developing RTF modules used on earlier versions of e-Sword;

ToolTipToolNT was for developing HTML modules for e-Sword v.10+.

I could be out to lunch; but, stating that should bring about quick responsive corrections.
