#18445 v10.2.1 problem displaying 1st page of Reference Library Resources

Posted by cbb1962 on 02 September 2013 - 12:15 PM

UPDATE: The problem appears to be related to the new bookmarking feature.

When a Reference file is selected there is a registry key that is created:  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword\Library\History of the Christian Church. This registry key was created the first time I selected "History of the Christian Church" in the reference viewer.

As different pages/chapters/locations are opened, there are registry keys for each location that is within the reference file created - within this hive.  The values stored appear to be the last screen location, (the actual bookmark/placeholder)

There is also a separate key called "topic" that shows that last active chapter/location/page.  It appears that whenever this is set to "1" the first page will not display.  BUT if I change this value to a "0" in Regedit then the first page will display.

The very first time a resource is opened it will display correctly.  Leave the resource on the first page.  close the reference viewer and open it a gain.  the first page will not display.

If you delete that resources registry hive and then reopen the resource in the reference library it will display correctly the first time after is was deleted too.

This is just more info about the problem.

#18429 v10.2.1 problem displaying 1st page of Reference Library Resources

Is anyone having problems with V10.2.1 having trouble displaying the first page of .refx files?

refx sc1.png

Then Click on page 2:

refx sc2.png

Then click back on the first page and it appears:

refx sc3.png

I am running v10.2.1 on three machines: Windows 7 Pro, Windows 7 Home, and Windows 8.  I have also been able to recreate this on all three installations.

I have just recreated this by opening a .refx resource, clinking on the first page. closing the reference library and closing e-Sword.  Restart e-Sword, and open the reference library and the first page of the resource will not display until I have clicked on another chapter or section of the resource file.  This method has recreated the problem on every reference file that I have tried it on!

If you do this on a single page resource it will not display no matter what you do.  You can search a single page resource but it will still not display!

As I said I have confirmed this on 3 separate machines, is anyone else able to recreate this problem?

#3410 e-Sword 10.0.4 Released (Test Drive Version)

There is one thing that has been an issue with those that "experiment" with re-arranging e-Sword's layout.  The first time, most folks get their layout screwed up and can't figure out how to get it back. The only way that I know of to get back to the original layout is to go to HELP=>Reset E-Sword Settings, this works perfectly, EXCEPT it also erases all of the bookmarks and sets them to John 3:16. I figure more people will be experimenting now that the Reference Library is available, I am "hiding" the Editors pane to gain more screen Real Estate.

It would be nice to have "Reset Layout" and "Reset Bookmarks" as separate options.   What other settings are effected by the HELP=>Reset E-Sword Settings command?

Thanks Rick v10 is Awesome!!! and Josh thanks for the Help with the RTF issues!!

This release includes a lot of bug fixes from folks both on the user group and elsewhere.

Personally I would really like to see a detailed list of bugs that were fixed :-)  and any remaining known issues.

First I LOVE the reference viewer!!!  But, It appears that there is a problem with the "chapter" numbering in V10 for .topx resources viewed in the Reference Library.  A .topx that has chapters labeled as 01, 02, 03, 04 etc...  display properly in the editor pane but will be out of order in the Reference Library viewer.  It will display 02, 04, 01, 03...  The other interesting thing is that all resources aren't scrambled. It almost appears to be table order not sorted by "Chapter"

thanks,
Clint
