#18106 ABP+ is Great! Is there an ABP without the Plus?

Posted by inspiralight on 03 August 2013 - 08:33 PM

Question - will Charles Van der Pool give permission to produce a non-plus version of ABP?

Thank you BH, for your reply. Apparently you are right about that being the question, because Rick Meyers says that (contrary to what I had imagined) he was given the ABP text with the Strongs numbers already in it. No wonder there's no ABP without the plus! So the next step is to find out exactly what you asked. Thanks again,

James

#18017 ABP+ is Great! Is there an ABP without the Plus?

Thanks to a suggestion from "JPG" I recently tried the ABP+ download from within eSword. That's a version of the Septuagint, called the "Apostolic Bible Polyglot" from Charles Van der Pool.

I love it. It's great for studying the Septuagint. But...

Is there an ABP download for esword without the PLUS? I'd like to toggle back and forth between reading verses that aren't cluttered with strong's numbers, then switch back to the plus version only when I need to study the original Greek for particular words.

That's how I alternate between esword's built in KJV and the KJV+

So far I haven't been able to find an ABP to download, only the ABP+

Since there had to be an ABP version to create the ABP+  it makes sense that such a thing exists, but where? If anyone knows of such a thing, please let me know.

James

P.S. The LXX & LXX+ downloads (from within eSword) turned out to be useless for me, because the verses use the Greek alphabet and I'm a long way from being able to read that.

#17780 Septuagint

Greetings,

Using the download Bible feature within eSword, I downloaded two versions of the Septuagint

lxx.bblx

and:

lxx+.bblx

They show up in my esword folder along with my other Bibles, so I restart eSword, but... I never see a tab for these Bibles!

If I try to download them again, the download page tells me they are already installed, which makes sense because I can see the .bblx files on my computer.

By the way, since I can't read Greek, I am hoping this bblx+ is an English translation of the Septuagint (which of course is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament).

I'm also hoping it will work just like the standard, built-in KJV+ so I can search on English words, hover over those words with the mouse and see a tiny popup window displaying the Strongs number and definition for the Greek word used there (and even do a quick search for that Greek word). That would be ideal.

If the lxx+ doesn't provide these features then I should look for some other solution to search the Septuagint in English, then examine the Strong's definitions of the underlying Greek.

Since I'm new here I looked through all 21 pages of posts before posting this, and I didn't see any posts regarding this type of problem. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help.

All the best,
