It is locked, and unable to be legally altered. I am unaware of any legal method of making any changes to it.
2. The NIV84 has legally been removed from publication by its publishers. As I understand it, it is no longer legally available (except as "used" where you might find it).

Therein lies the problem, my mini rant concerning the absurd overreaching copyright laws.
First of all the time period and then the ability to use copyrighted material.

That's why almost all of my electronic materials and modules are public domain or a fairly open-ended copyrighted material.

It is a shame too about the 84 NIV wasn't too bad...I haven't looked at the newer one.
But I moved on years ago. Now printed form I use NKJV or sometimes look at ESV or CSB.
Of course I also have great repect for the JKV.

Really, this is my advise on electronic material, try to use public domain, if not possible then find a copyrighted material with a fairly opened ended policy.

That way problems are more easily solved otherwise one could be stuck with a moral, legal, conscious decision in a no win situation.
