Hey, BibSuppers,

I have just noticed an idiosyncrasy in my "Options" area, and was wondering if the problem is a setting on my machine, or a possible overall "bug" in the program. Under "Options/ToolTip Font..." I am able to change the size of the display of my ToolTips (currently set at 11, but changeable to many different sizes). However, I cannot change the color (always reverts to "custom" which displays as black on my laptop) nor the font (no matter what is selected, the font displayed is Times New Roman).

Anyone else notice a quirk like this? Or perhaps have one of my customizations caused an 'issue'?

Hi Dave,
My systems behaves as your's does so it is not peculiar to your system, IMO. I can only change the size of the font.

Hey Dave,

It sure seems to be a bug. Only the size changes, everything else remains the same.

I don't get a dialog appear with Windows XP.
For Windows 7, I get same issue as noted.

I cannot change the color (

">Options >Text Colors >Tooltip Link"

the font displayed is Times New Roman

That can be changed, but it isn't a sticky change.

Jonathon,

text color of tooltip itself; not the tooltip links.

Perhaps you didn't understand the original post?

DDT, are pushing the envelop again? :-) Just an observation, but the dialog box to select the font appears to be a standard Windows dialog box. My guess is that the "effects" frame of the dialog box is just not turned off and perhaps it should be, and that you can not change the tooltip color. Tooltips display in the same color as the Bible texts, and this includes red lettering. Just my thoughts...

Hey, BibSuppers,

well, I went to Rick about this question. Here is his definitive response:

Dave,

I went back through a few versions and apparently only the "size" has been reflected in the ToolTip since version 9.0. The "default font" establishes the font face.

In His service,

Rick Meyers

So, none of our eSword systems have 'issues.' Good to know!

Dave

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, my issue was mentioned already - see post #4. I didn't read a response, so, :)

In XP x86 and e-Sword v991, I can open both a Fonts... and Text Colors... dialog yet nothing happens when I select the ToolTip Font... menu item, no dialog box, nada. My system ToolTip font is 10, readable, the e-Sword ToolTip font is so small it barely can be seen, I'm guessing maybe 6... any ideas?

I understand the font face can't be changed, I only want to change the size but the option appears to be dead at my end - aarrrgggg!

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

I e-mailed Rick Meyers, and the response is that there are some XP systems that for some yet, unknown reason, don't display the dialog for one to change the size of the text in tool-tips. There is a value that can be entered into the registry, (if you know what to do). I have done so and it worked fine.

Jon,

You are going to add a new String entry named "ToolTip Font Size" to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword\Settings

You can set it to any value from 8 to 24.
