I created an e-sword topx module that is copyrighted. I have permission from the author to create an e-sword module. How can I ensure the document is read only.

You will need to convert the topx module to a reference or refx module using the following steps (refx modules cannot be edited):
 

How to Convert Topic Notes to Reference Book Format

 

To convert Topic Notes to Reference Book format:

 

1. While pressing the Ctrl key, right-click the mouse in the Topic Notes window.

2. Click the Convert to Reference Book option.

3. Choose where to save the REFX module. You should choose your e-Sword installation folder, usually c:\program files\e-Sword, unless you changed the location where e-Sword reads modules. See the Changing Your e-Sword Resources and Files Location section if necessary.

4. A confirmation box tells you to restart e-Sword to see the Reference Library book in the Reference Library.

 

Note that you will only see the new REFX module if you saved the module in your e-Sword Resources and Files Location folder

NOTE - REFX modules can be read.  I've added that to T4 just recently and was going to release soon.  FYI.  

 

The only way to secure it is to have Rick Meyer make it an e-Sword encrypted module.

The program called Simple Bible Reader can also create encrypted modules for e-Sword use

Well, I may have had a brain spasm (i'm only functioning on half a brain anyways) - but Reading REFX files IS already in T4 Under the Modules menu.  It is not noted in the change file.  FYI.

I created the topx module in Tooltip, but when I pressed the ctrl key I dont get any menu to convert to Refx. Then I tried opening in E-sword program using the same procedure but didn't get the convert menu either...  Sorry for the confusion. Where is the topx notes window? is it in tooltip or e-sword?

It is in e-Sword.

As stated in above post. In the Topics window of the resource you want to convert.

Hold down the Ctrl Key and pres the right mouse key (the one that normally brings up a menu in most programs)

The topic notes window is in e-Sword as one of the three editors that can be accessed by clicking the "editors" tab along the left edge of the main e-Sword interface.

 

Clicking the editors tab will open a new window in e-Sword that gives you access to three different editors that can be used in e-Sword.

 

One editor is for Study Notes, one is for Journal Notes and one is for Topic Notes or files.

 

Select the Topics editor to open the Topics editor window. Once the Topics editor is open there is a drop down menu where you will find topic files listed. Select your topic file from the drop down menu to open it then follow the conversion steps I posted earlier. 

 

Note if you do not see your topic file in the topics editor drop down menu do not panic. The files used by the three editors are located in your My Documents folder in Windows in a folder labeled "e-Sword" This folder installs when e-Sword is first installed. Copy and paste a copy of your Topic file to the "e-Sword" folder in My Documents. Close and restart e-Sword after copying the file. With e-Sword restarted select the editors tab again, select topics editor and then check the topics editor drop down menu to see if your topics file is listed

I copy and pasted my .topx module into my documents folder. Then I started up E-sword but the topx file was in listed in the topics drop down...Any suggestions?

I discovered how to view my topx file in the topics window editor.  My topic module is located in the topic editor dropdown menu at the bottom of the topic editor window. I must be blind and dumb to have missed that.

 

Sorry, for causing any problems guys... I'm VERY new at developing modules.
