Greetings All,

I bought a new PC and have installed e-sword.  I have transferred the old markup.ovlx file onto the new PC.  (The e-sword version on the old PC is several years old.)  The highlights show up for the Bibles but not for the commentaries.  Like many people, I have years of highlignting that I would love to keep but, for some reason, they are not appearing.  Any suggestions?

Thanks & God Bless,

JR

You state that you installed a new version of e-Sword on your new PC and have a much older version of e-Sword on your old PC. This might be your issue right there as the markup.ovlx file from the older version of e-Sword might not be fully compatible with the new version of e-Sword you installed on the new PC.

The release of e-Sword 11 for PC's saw a significant change to the internal architecture of e-Sword.

Prior to the release of e-Sword 11, the version of e-Sword for Windows PC's could only work with modules built using Rich Text Format or RTF. The release of e-Sword 11 for Windows PC's allows e-Sword to work with both RTF format modules and HTML format modules. The HTML format had been used exclusively for the Apple/Mac versions e-Sword prior to the release of e-Sword 11.

Rick provided the answer to this and it involves using the 'tab renamer' app.  When the new e-sword version is downloaded onto the new PC, the tab names for the commentaries are different than the tab names in the older version of e-sword.  What is needed is to go to where the commentaries are located in the new version of e-sword and, using the tab renamer app, open a commentary (Albert Barnes) and rename it to the name found on the tab in the old esword version (Barnes).  Do this for all of the commentaries which you've highlighted in your old version.  Restart esword and all of your highlighting should appear.  The highlighting is shifted over 1-2 spots, but that's a nit.
