I did try a search on this forum but nothing showed when I searched Dropbox ?? I thought I'd seen plenty on that.

When you install e-sword as you know, There is the RESOURCES option.

2 LOCATIONS

1> Resources Location: c:\program files (x86)\e-sword
2> User Files Location: c:\users\jack2\documents\e-sword\

Which file locations are moved or changed into Dropbox?

You then relocate the Resources Location as Dropbox?
Do you make a folder in Dropbox named e-sword?

And does the User Files Location resource change from what's just above.

I would certainly appreciate any help and it would be a blessing.  Jack ":-Dx

The only real reason to use a site like dropbox or Google Drive is to move resources from one computer to another such as from a home computer to a work computer or between two personal computers. Modules for use with e-Sword install in to the the c:\program files (x86)\e-sword folder be default as the modules have to be on the same computer that e-Sword is installed on in order for e-Sword to work correctly. e-Sword does not have ability to uses resources directly from the internet.

The two resources options are folders that are part of e-Sword's installation and can only be set to folders that exist on your computer.

Yes your "use description" is right on. I want the ability to work on the PC. And when my neck and back is shot I'll go pick up the Windows Tablet and continue in some nice comfy chair.

I have all the modules in the places that e-Sword created. I followed this plan with which you might be familiar . . .

http://www.countryke....com/wp/?p=3322

More specifically this part .. .

" To do this, you’ll first need to create new journal notes, markup, study notes, and topic notes files in your Dropbox folder.  Do this from the computer where you have your personal information saved.  This will create blank files in those locations. You can then exit e-Sword and copy files from your My Documents/e-Sword folder to your Dropbox folder, overwriting the blank files you just created. When you next open e-Sword, your notes ought to be there. "

I re-read Dropbox's instructions on adding files. Simple just drag and drop.

But for some reason the user files are updating but the ones on Dropbox are not? I did a drag and drop with both the Resources and User Files. Leaving them intact in the PC orig configuaration.

My tongue is stuck on the flagpole and I can't get any further.
 oh brother !!

You added for which I am grateful. I think I might have gotten the solution by much "more" trial and error. I'll report back definitively when I am sure. Thanks!

Blessings,

Read this but listen only to the sounds!

Thoinks might! Due appreci-ite your help. No busting on you Aussies. I love the language. I was once watching a commercial for Outback Steak House here in USA and the narrator said steak. With your proper pronunciation I'm sure. I thought the way he pronounce steak, in Aussie was great and I was going to try. I got a reasonable facsimile but not good enough to pass.

Then I got a brainer. Instead of trying mimick the Aussie I said wait a minute let me come from this approach. A completely new word. Instead of looking at the word in letters look at it only as sounds.

Commercial: We have the best " stike " going. lol I don't know what a stike might be but it worked. So many words are best mimicked with a different word that comes out the right sound!

I have a good HS friend and HS band member who worked for ATCO Gas Australia, retired now, has lived in the South East of your land for decades. He has a farm of some sort in Narrikup. He's often invited me to come. Our/his home is Smyrna Delaware on the East Coast of USA. But it seems arduous. He actually gets back here once or twice a year. If you have Facebook here he is. But again, thanks. I listed to your video.

Glad you like the "Aussie" accent.

I am an Australian citizen by virtue of having taken Citizenship in 1986 (I think). That said, I'm also a Kiwi, a New Zealander, living in New Zealand.

In full, I am:

  • German, as I was that is where I originated from, and parents were German.
  • Come Kiwi, due to having taken New Zealand Citizenship in 1966
  • Come Aussie

In that order.

I hold dual citizenship, and have two passports - New Zealand and Australian. The German one went down the tube after having taken out New Zealand citizenship in 1966. So that is how it works.

Blessings,

Stephen (Php 1:21).

Blessings,

I appreciate you being so helpful. But there's a question left in my mind. Don't know if I missed it.

Basically I get install e-sword.
Then make an e-Sword folder in Dropbox
Then open e-Sword and go to where Resources is and point to the Dropbox folder?

* In fact I uninstalled e~ first, then re-installed and made the folder in Dropbox. Went to resources and pointed the file to Dropbox>e-Sword and nothings in Dropbox?

But how does that folder get populated? We've moved no files there?

When I install e- on my computer I get a folder under (x86) and the journal, topic, study and markup are not in that (x86)folder. They are installed in my user: Jack2>documents>e-Sword and then in that folder are all those folder that hold notes and journal entries I just mentioned

* Could you give me a little clarification? Also under Resources do we change the user files: I'm not sure how Dropbox will monitor them for changes if they are in my user folder? Thanks!
