We are having an issue with displaying of some special characters of old Spanish Protestant Bibles (1569 & 1602). This is due to language that used special characters and some do not display.

Before E-Sword was available in mobile devices (tablets, iphone, etc), it was only on PC and was not an issue.

We had a custom Font created that contain these special characters and we simply install the custom Fonts and we can see all the characters. But this works for PC, not tablets or iphones.

But we are having issues with the special character “ct”. I have attached a picture of the special character from the Old Spanish Bible and also a picture of how it displays on eSword LT (iphone). Instead we get a kiss emoji.

Can someone please help? What can we do?

That is hard because there is no real Unicode for LATIN SMALL LIGATURE CT

And replacing  to  doesn't work.

The only suggestion I have is using a rare form of the Latin letter t as alternative: examples: ŧ ţ ť

Really the point is that this works correctly on e-Sword PC with the special font that uses the private use area Unicode Block, but does not work on Apple tablet and phone OS.

Perhaps the Apple OS reserves those private blocks for their emoji.

I suggest you contact the author of e-Sword directly on this question for him to investigate.

I have sent you a private message with a link to the module I have modified at Luke 12:12. Can you see if that works for you as I don't have an Apple device to test.
