Hey guys,

 

I just stumbled upon this application and purchased it from the app store, I looked at the tutorials for how to get modules on Mac and for the life of me I cannot figure any of this out or get any of these methods to work. I'm finding I'm not seeing any of the same stuff as anyone, I'm totally lost. I tried downloading Crossover and the pc-to-apple module converter, didn't work, tried downloading the crossover e-sword, still didn't work. If someone who is knowledgable could give me some help that would be great, thanks!

First question is which version of E-Sword for Apple Mac did you install there are 3 different versions:

E-Sword X for use on MAC computers
E-Sword HD for the Ipad
E-Sword LT for the IPhone.

All 3 use modules that are formatted for use with Apple Products these modules all have file extensions that end in the letter "i": 
 

Reference Library (REFI)

Bible (BBLI),

Commentary (CMTI),

Dictionary (DCTI)

Bible Reading Plan (BRPI).

Devotional (DEVI)

Modules formatted for use in the Windows version of E-Sword have file extensions that end in the letter "X", and will not work with the Apple/Mac versions of E-Sword.

I am planning to switch to Mac Book from PC  and I use ESword many times daily.  I have tons of modules  HELP!!!

First you will need to download and install E-Sword X on to the Mac Book this is the Mac version of E-Sword

For your modules on your PC there is a module converter available for download at www.e-sword.net, this will allow you to convert your modules from PC to MAC format on your PC. You can then transfer them over to the Mac Book from the PC

This may be addressed elsewhere so I apologize in advance.  Since I only have a MAC, I am trying to find modules for ESword. I can't find that many. So I was wondering if I could convert the PC modules on my MAC?

There are number of modules on this site that are for the MAC version that can be downloaded from this site. Any module with a file extension that ends in the letter "i" can be used with the MAC version of E-Sword. These extensions include:

Unfortunately there is no converter that will work on the MAC however you can download a a program called Crossover Mac from Codeweavers. This will allow you to to run Windows software on MAC.

I've seriously got to ask this question: Are there no Mac users that are programmers, or able to do programming to create e-Sword tools to run on Macs, or even, for this matter, to run on iOS devices???

 

Hope that someone will give me an answer.

 

That asked and said, my genuine suggestion to any of you Mac and/or iOS users, is that some of you to actually learn programming. There are actually excellent free programming IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) for Macs, including Microsoft Visual Studio. Any of you Mac users, in all seriousness have really no excuse not learn and develop some programming skills so that you can create tools resource creation and etc for e-Sword X.

Let me encourage you to go for it. You, as an e-Sword for Mac, can be a major help to those in your part of this community. It may appear to go unrewarded, but knowing the satisfaction one gets purely from having produced something which is really beneficial, not to just oneself, but also to many other Mac users, is something you just can't beat.

 

Here is a very short list of those who have produced tools to work alongside with e-Sword. And by the way, most of them are not professional software developers.

As I said this is just a short list of people that who develop and have developed tools/utilities for e-Sword. There are a number of others whose names don't appear, but have given a vast amount of time so that many can benefit by using them. Admittedly, all of the tools have been developed to run on Windows. That said, I genuinely don't see why those who are e-Sword for Apple users can't do something like what e-Sword for Windows users have done and do.

Hi, just wondering if there is any (quicker) way to find those resources that include Mac-compatible files.  I tried searching by file extensions, which didn't work, and have ended up just manually selecting everything in which I was interested, unfortunately finding very little useable material.  I am not a techie, and would have absolutely no idea how to create them, unfortunately.  E-Sword is an awesome tool, and I'm grateful to all those on this site who work to make this material available.  Thank you!

 

Update:  think I figured it out:  Select the "download" option in the search box, then enter the file extension, eg. "lexi".  This seems to work.
