I download a lot of useful PDF files. Is there a way to store or link them to esword reference file?

Unfortunately there is now way to link them to an E-Sword reference file. However you can use the E-Sword module creation tool called E-Sword Tool Tooltip to make E-Sword Reference or Topic files from the PDF's. You will likely have to do a lot of cutting and pasting from the PDF files in to Tooltip but having the files accessible through E-Sword will be worth the effort.

 

You can download E-Sword Tooltip from this site and it comes with a users manual that will walk you through the process of creating modules. Here is the link to download E-Sword Tooltip:

Actually, this is where (actual) desktop PCs really come into their own when it comes to PDF files, by having the ability of having dual or triple monitors. e-Sword on one and a PDF reader on the other. And if its three monitors, all the more better, because then you drag the Reference Library window onto the third one.

 

Just thought that thinking outside of the proverbial square would put a different perspective of how the problem can be resolved.

WWhen e-Sword switched to HTML, was that functionality removed?

E-Sword only allows for linking within E-Sword modules or externally to websites:

Inserting a Hyperlink and Creating a Bookmark

 

A hyperlink connects text to a destination. As shown below, the destination might be a web page or an internal bookmark. A bookmark is the destination for a hyperlink. You can define both from the same Hyperlink screen.

 

Highlight the word(s) you want to make into a hyperlink or bookmark. Click Insert on the main menu and choose Link.

 

You can also click the icon first and define the hyperlink Display Text in the window.

 

External: Use this field to link to a website. Enter the website URL in this field.

 

Internal: Contains the bookmarks used in the document. Bookmarks are internal document destinations. Select an internal bookmark to link to.

 

If the document does not contain any bookmarks, this list will be empty.

 

Bookmark: Creates a bookmark from the text you highlighted above. Bookmarks are internal document destinations. Hyperlinks link to a bookmark. Entering text into this field does not create a hyperlink, only a bookmark.

 

BOOKMARK LIMITATIONS: A bookmark must be used in the same comment (or chapter) where it’s defined. For example, in a commentary module, you cannot define a bookmark in one verse comment and hyperlink to the bookmark from a different verse comment. The same restrictions apply to other module types
