Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I couldn't believe it that the above worked perfectly the first time. It even put an icon on the desktop for me to use. The script would have to be changed if e-Sword is updated. I installed the latest e-Sword into the latest Ubuntu (18.04). It isn't my script and I wouldn't have a clue how to help you if you have problems. All I can really guarantee is that it worked for me, and I mean that everything works in e-Sword.

Now, would have been fantastic if you did a screen recording (a video) of what you did, and that way everyone could see what you did, and how you did it.
That said, what you outlined basically also applies to any Windows software. So, on that note, great job.
Blessings,

I tried to set up a dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu recently and made a mistake. I now have 100% Ubuntu. I'm still learning everything and don't know how to make a video. All it would have shown is copying and pasting one line of the script at a time into the terminal program and hitting return at the end of each line. This would not include the lines starting with #. I did run Ubuntu many years ago and had a horrible time trying to install e-Sword. I don't remember if I ever got e-Sword installed with everything working. So, this script should help a lot of people having problems installing e-Sword. I hope so.

I am running Linux Mint version 18. Wine seems to run e-sword without issue (more or less). The only problem is that I cannot change the font size from the settings menu. It seems to ignore any changes I make to the font *size*. Is there any way to resolve this? What would it take to get a Linux version?

I can't remember if I had problems changing font sizes or not, but I changed the default font to Tahoma to get the larger font that I wanted. Many have asked the author about a Linux version of e-Sword, and the answer has been "no" so far. I hope this helps you some.

Hey, thanks for sharing this info ! I actually found it while doing a google search about running e sword on Zorin, which is the Linux flavor I am currently trying out. Until a few days ago I didn't know anything about Linux, but I decided to get into it because I want to be rid of Win 7 before the updates expire. It's working fine for me btw - not trying the multi-boot thing though - lol.
There aren't really any Windows programs I want to be able to run on Linux except for e sword, so when I get to that part of the change-over I'm going to give it a shot. :-)

You're most welcome. I hope that things go well for you. I left Windows behind and don't regret it.

Now, knowing this is a long time in replying to what you said, and that what you knew back then against what you know now the difference would be like comparing apples with plumbs. That means you are now way more experienced, and way more knowledgeable than what you were almost a year ago.
So, going back to the screen recording (make a video) part; this is relatively simple even in linux, irrespective of the distro. And perhaps the best way/method to do a screen recording is using the screen recording tool which is imbedded in, such as, the nvidia graphic card drivers. That said, you gotta have that type of graphic card on your machine, like I do.
Assuming you have an nvidia graphic card with the drivers installed on your favorite Linux distro machine, to run the Screen Recording "program," simply press Alt + Z on your keyboard, and the GUI will pop up, and from there all you need to do is click on Start Recording to record/create a video of what you are doing with a program.
Below is a video of a screen recording I did using the nvidia screen recording tool which shows the interface and etc., of which it would be pretty much the same in Linux.
With all of that said, if you don't have that kind of graphics card, that's ok, because apparently there are some really good screen recording software for linux available which you can download and install.
Blessings,

I don't do screen recordings. My text message will have to be sufficient, at least from me.
