I have e-sword.9x on my desktop and .8 on my laptop. The laptop version has my most up to date notes (study.not) and I want to convert it to .9 because I want to use Database2RTF.exe. The Database2RTF.exe instructions tells me I need to convert the .8 version to .9 using the e-sword converter program. I did this, but there is not option to update the study.not

The only other way to do this is to uninstall and re-install e-sword which would pick up the conversion of my old study.not file...I really don't want to do this however

thanks
John

Thank You,

This converter will convert .not files: http://www.biblesupp...rd-9-converter/

I didn't realize the official e-sword converter would not convert .not files. I will change this in the documentation.

Hi,
The e-Sword program itself converts old study notes (.not) and old topic notes (.top).
All you have to do is navigate from the main menu, click on Open...an file explorer window opens...then navigate to where your old .not or .top files are...
besides the box for file name you will find a dialogue box....choose Old Study Notes File(.not) and open
This will automatically convert the file to e-S 9x format

Thanks

Thanks Dyan, that worked.

The first thing to do is click the study notes tab, then click File!Open.

I created a study.rtf file which is what I wanted. I wish the Hebrew fonts would show up better though.

Thanks again Dyan and Josh

Thank You,

Something else to put in the e-Sword User's Guide...didn't realize that.

You might try changing the font to whatever font you used when you created the study note in e-Sword (if it's not already set to that font).

my study.not file is 19 Mb. the conversion program refuses to convert it (to vers. 9/10).
Is there some way to break up the file to smaller components? without doing copy/paste for each verse.
Or, is there some other way to get it done?

Dan,

What does the converter say?

The study.not file is an Access database, so it can made smaller.

from dan again

converter runs through part of the process. ie.it loads. it gets part way (1/4 way) through the converting , pop-up says finished and quits. there is no study.notx file

Instead of trying to convert the file, go to e-Sword. Click the Study Notes tab in the Editors window. Right click an area in the window. Choose Open from the popup menu. At the bottom of that window, select "Old Study Notes .not". And try to bring the study notes into e-Sword that way.
