Hello all.  I'm currently starting a new project, a dictionary based upon the Ante-Nicene writings of the early church.  What I would like to do is use select quotes from those texts and hyperlink to the referenced work.  I'm using T4, but I can't figure out how to make it work.  So far the best idea I've had was to import all of the 9 volumes into the dictionary module I am creating but my hyperlinks will not work.  Any further direction is much appreciated!

I suggest you take a little time to read the E-Sword Tooltip users manual as it contains all of the information regarding making a dictionary module for e-Sword use.  You can find the user manual by clicking "Help" in the Tooltip menu will display a short drop down menu, the user manual is the last item on the drop down menu. The manual is in pdf format 

Essentially e-Sword itself has built in functionality that automatically links bibles, commentaries, and topic/reference modules to dictionary modules. The built in functionality is such that clicking any word in a bible, commentary or topic/reference will display the matching dictionary term. 

It sound like your best bet is to create two modules, either a commentary or topic/reference module and separate dictionary module. The commentary or topic/reference will contain the full text of the writings and the dictionary module will contain the terms and definitions from the full text

I have been searching through the pdf and forums and from what I gather the only "linking" that has been explained is a hyperlink from the topic/ commentary module to the word entry within a dictionary module. I would like to go the other direction. Here's what it would look like:

I click the word "oil" and it pulls up the entry for oil in my dictionary. The dictionary entry contains a quote from St. Ignatius with a hyperlink to the referenced module in Volume 1 of the Ante- Nicene Fathers. I click the link, it takes me to that section of the topic module. I would like to know if this is possible. If I cannot link to a separate (topic) module, is there a way I can make it work with the idea I described in my above post?

Unfortunately there is no way to do what you want due to e-sword having very strict hyperlink/bookmark restrictions as explained in the E-Sword tooltip manual:

BOOKMARK LIMITATIONS: A bookmark must be used in the same comment (or chapter) where it’s defined. For example, in a commentary module, you cannot define a bookmark in one verse comment and hyperlink to the bookmark from a different verse comment. The same restrictions apply to other module types.

 

You could add the references from the Ante- Nicene Fathers to each dictionary definition, however this might end up creating a very large dictionary module.
