Hello

How to Configure E-sword Tooltip Tool…
for example, to capture German letters in the E-sword search function
Letters like "ü" or "ä" etc.

Namely in e-sword I can't find any words with these letters, about E-sword search function

What do you have to adjust in Tooltip Tool?

Thanks in advance.

greeting

Miro

As far as I am aware there isn't a way one can configure or set up T4 to type in German type characters. Only thing I can think of how you can do this is by:

  • Have an actual German keyboard which has the characters you want to use
  • Use the Windows Character Map, which can be accessed in the Tools menu, and then inserting the character you want to use.

Beyond that, I don't think there is anything else you can do. I could be wrong, and someone may have a better idea than what I have suggested.

If your just doing a couple german letters like APsit190 said the character map is the way to go

if you are typing in full german look for virtual keyboards in German

there are two virtual keyboard options

one is to type on screen and the other changes your physical keyboard to type in german problem here is knowing what latin letter on the keyboard corresponds to what german letter

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Hello
Thanks for your comments
Hmmm…
If E-Sword Polish or German, Russian, Hungarian, Bulgarian or Greek etc. letters in the search function is not considered
then the E-Sword search function is out of place ...
Because more than half of the world does not write Latin.
Most of the People of the world there use special signs.

That should be clear to the E-Sword developer, is not it?
Studying and researching the Bible is fun in foreign languages.
It is unfortunate that the Bible basic languages such as Greek, or Hebrew in the E-Sword search function is not covered ...
Has anyone noticed so far?

Did somone inform the E-Sword developer
or an update suggested?

greetings
Miro

The problems of accents or diacritics are in the source (modules) and in the program.

In the source must the input be the same as the output like notepad for windows in UTF-8 encoding

So no U HTM tags or RTF tags in the SQL file but pure UTF-8 encoding.

The Apple convertor is a solution for most modules.

And e-Sword lacks the option "ignore accents" in the the search options.

But the German letters (ä, ü, ö, ß) problem in the search function is only in my own Original Bible.
I downloaded a German Luther Bible about E-sword Download and the ä ü ö here Everything works in the search function
Why do not they work on My own created bible?

Surely there is a feature in Tooltip Tools that I have not turned on and that's why I have this problem.
Also, I can only create via Modules> Bible> RTF
I can not do anything about Modules> Bible> no plain. text create
there are always errors that I do not have with RTF compiler.

Make a backup of your module.

If you have a bblx file then try first to convert it to a bbli with the Apple converter
http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html
When it is done then place you the bbli in the e-Sword folder and remove the original outside the e-Sword folder.
The bbli can be there:
C:\Users\VA\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

____

If this not works:
Download and instal "DB Browser for SQLite"
http://sqlitebrowser.org/
Start DB Browser for SQLite
File and Open database and "All files" instead of "SQLite database files"
browse to the module that you made.

file and export "Database to SQL file" and "Export everything" and save
change .sql to .sql.txt
And close DB Browser for SQLite

open the .sql.txt with notepad and search for words with ä or ü or ö or ß that are replace by tag code.
"replace all" the tag code

The ü of Brüder in this verse:
40,1,2,'Abraham zeugte Isaak. Isaak zeugte Jakob. Jakob zeugte Juda und seine Brüder.';

And the ö of Kö*** in this verse: (is "king" in German a bad word)?
40,1,6,'Jesse zeugte den Kö*** David

And the ä of Pharisäer and the ß of daß in this verse:
42,7,36,'Es bat ihn aber der Pharisäer einer, daß er mit ihm äße. Und er ging hinein in des Pharisäers Haus und setzte sich zu Tisch';

Save the notepad .sql.txt in UTF-8 (file "save as" and select UTF-8 instead of ANSI)

Start DB Browser for SQLite
And import the .sql.txt (file impore and change the filename to the 001__GerBible.bbli module , it takes more then five minutes to import).
be sure that there is no .db after the .bbli and test it with e-Sword.

Hello

Thanks for your detailed instructions.

(is "king" in German a bad word)?

No.

So I'm a PC user not an Apple user.
Then I think, the Apple Convention, certainly not in the question....
Then I have to go the second way.
OK.

Which tag code type is involved?
HTML , or UTF 8 , or something else?
For example HTML:
replace the letter "ä" with "ä"

< ö > replace with < ö >, etc. ?

For example UTF 8

ä replace with U+00E4 etc ?

What is the right Tag - Code?

greetings

The Apple modules are more compatible with e-Sword 11 than the old e-Sword 10 modules.

So the bbli modules are better for e-Sword 11 than the old bblx.

No tag code is better (the same input as the output).

The input is ä and the output is also ä

The input is ö and the output is also ö

But you need to save it as a UTF-8 encoding instead an ANSI coding.

So click on file and "save as" and change ANSI to UTF-8 in notepad.

So it is rather to replace &auml to ä

Or ö replace with ö

Or U+00E4 replace with ä

And e-Sword lacks the option "ignore accents" in the the search options.

Hi Katoog,

When you posted this, it seriously bugged me, and thought that something like this has never been a been a part of the e-Sword search engine, and in reality it should be, I sent Rick a message about it, and suggested that this option be included in the next version of e-Sword.

I'll post his reply once I get it.
