Billy Sunday was an atypical and charismatic individual. He was a gifted athlete who enjoyed a great deal of success during the 1880's as a major league outfielder. After he was converted, he left baseball and became a highly popular evangelist. His sermons were conservative and highly entertaining, at least in part due to his unique folksy style. He played an important role in the history of the chruch and will not be forgotten.
