Hi Josh,
Thanks mate, I already have it. Some months ago another Kiwi member of this group told me about it, and I downloaded it. The text in it has quite a few typo errors in it, as with the source text I'm using. And therefore there is a quite a fair bit of corrections that would have to be made. Moreover, when that one was first mentioned to me I was at about the 8th book of the Bible, and now that I'm well over the halfway mark in the OT, and close the the halfway mark of the Bible (currently working on the 24th book) I'm sticking with what I've started. That said, the one you have mentioned, I use this for comparative purposes.

In checking the spelling of a word that might look incorrect, I am using the Te Aka Māori-English, English-Māori Dictionary and Index. This has helped me immensely because I can't really speak Maori, and so what I think might be correct has been found to be incorrect, and what I thought might be incorrect as been found correct.

Just a side note here. I have a friend who speaks fluent and reads Te Reo, and I'm going to have him record Genesis 1, Psalm 23, Psalm 51, and John 3 and upload these sound (mp3) files with Maori Bible. I reckon this will give you guys a tad of an insight to the language.

I have just completed a tad over 64% of the verses of the Bible, and completed approx 37% of the Books of the Maori Bible.

All in all, there are 66 Books of the Bible containing a total of 31,102 verses.

OK, I'll put you out of your misery and save you all a headache in trying to find out what the 20,000th verse of the Bible is.

The 20,000th verse of the Bible is Jeremiah 43:2, which in the Maori Bible is, "Katahi ka korero a Ataria tama a Hohaia, ratou ko Hohanana tama a Karea, ko nga tangata whakapehapeha katoa ano hoki, ka mea ki a Heremaia, E korero teka ana koe: kihai a Ihowa, to tatou Atua, i unga mai i a koe hei mea, Kaua koutou e haere ki Ih ipa, ki reira noho ai." Which in English (using the KJ3 translation) is, " Azariah, the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, then spoke, saying to Jeremiah, You speak falsely. Jehovah our God has not sent you to say, Do not go to Egypt, to sojourn there.

Hi All,
This is just another update of where I'm at with the development of the Maori Bible for e-Sword.

Another mile stone just achieved this afternoon at 4.06pm (Daylight Saving Time 5th October, 2012 (NZ date) I've completed the 33rd book of the Bible, of which is 22,685th verse which ends the 33rd Book.

There only remains 6 books of the OT to be done, and then that will be completed. Then its on to the New Testament.

Still in total, 33 books yet to do.

Well, here is the latest.

Today (which is my Saturday) at about 4.00pm I completed the Old Testament.

I have to admit over the last few days its really been a marathon run to complete the last 14 books of the Old Testament considering the fixing of Typographical and spelling errors.

To be candid, I am surprised of the amount of errors in the source text (of which these same errors appear in the MAORI.bblx on this site). I have thus far discovered well over 200 typos and spelling errors. The typos are usually orphaned letters of a word, e.g., m ano instead of mano, whana u instead of whanau and etc. The Maori word for Jerusalem in Jeremiah was a a real mishmash of a typo, and I don't know how on earth the proof readers for the Maori.bblx missed it and the other typos.

Although I been doing this edition for quite some time, I think I would have been finished by now had it not been for the textual errors. I've tried to correct as many as I could find, and because my Te Reo is not all that crash hot I don't think I got them all. There are some words in this edition of the Maori Bible which is not in the common Maori Language. I tried to find them using two online Maori Dictionaries, and none appeared, and tried to just simply Google them to see if I could find a reference for them, and more often than not I ended up with a blank.

Considering that I am using the 1951 edition of the Maori Bible, it seems there are quite an number of errors in it. When the new edition of the Maori bible is published by the Bible Society of New Zealand, I'll be looking forward to getting out an e-Sword edition.

Well, that's it for now. The next new will be when this file will be uploaded. One thing I definitely can say about it, its a huge improvement on what is currently on here at the moment.

Just before signing off, there is just this to be said...

The Maori language is a really beautiful language to listen to. Many songs and hymns in Maori does it better justice than in English. Just Google up "How Great Thou Art in Maori" and you'll see what I mean. When this e-Sword edition is completed and uploaded, it will accompany five mp3 files of selected chapters in Maori, which will be:

• Genesis 1
• Psalm 23
• Psalm 51
• John 1
• John 3.

Well, that's it, and now on to the New Testament.

Actually do you have all the titles of the 66 books?
I have the Maori bible esword awhile now but I'd love to know the names of the books.
